Deputy Under Investigation For Threats On TikTok For Not Getting Sex
A Texas sheriff’s deputy is under investigation after a TikTok video threatening to give out tickets to everyone because they didn’t get sex. Keep reading for more on the shocking video.
Are Police Quotas Real?
Anyone who drives a car has likely heard speculation that the police have monthly ticket quotas that they have to meet. If they don’t issue enough tickets for driving violations, the officers are allegedly issued a warning or punished.
The monthly quota rumor is bolstered by the anecdotal data that the police seem more active in the last few days of the month. But is the quota real?
Not if you ask the police. The official statement seems to be that they do not have a formal quota. In fact, some states have laws against the police departments having quotas.
However, current and former police officers have claimed informal ticket quotas that can affect performance reviews if the quota isn’t met.

Deputy Threatens Tickets For Not Getting Sex
Quota or not, giving out an unwarranted ticket is frowned upon. Even joking about it can land you in hot water. That’s what happened to one Texas county sheriff’s deputy who joked about giving out tickets to everyone on the road.
The Harris County deputy, who has been identified as Jennifer Escalera, posted a video on TikTok threatening to give out mass tickets. She was in a bad mood because she didn’t get sex the night before.
“Didn’t get cracked last night so everyone is getting a ticket…,” she jokingly captioned the video of her sitting in a squad car typing into the patrol car’s computer. The video has since been deleted but was shared on Instagram.

Deputy Under Investigation
The video was reported to the police department. An internal affairs investigation has been opened into it. “Our administration is aware and internal affairs has opened an investigation. We have no other comment at this time,” an official police spokesperson said about the investigation.
According to PEOPLE magazine, joking about giving out tickets isn’t the main issue. The deputy reportedly filmed several other TikTok videos in uniform, which may have broken department policy.
“It’s very unprofessional,” a local resident told the news about the deputy’s behavior. They added, “You shouldn’t be doing things like that. When you’re a professional, you carry yourself a certain way. What you do outside of work is cool, but I don’t think she should’ve done that.”
TikTok and other social media can be a great way to keep in touch with friends and family. However, it’s too often used to bully or harass, even jokingly. Many celebrities and non-celebrities have lost their jobs because of their social media content.
