5-Year-Old Girl Found Dead Locked In Box, Mother Arrested
A woman has been arrested after her daughter was found dead after being locked in a 5×5-foot box. The child’s father was also previously charged in the case. One of the girl’s parents had even shared the thought that they deserve to be in jail.
The Victim’s Parents Gave Conflicting Accounts Of Her Last Night Alive
Police had been called to a home in Cold Springs, Nevada. Authorities reached the home at around 7:10 a.m. on April 3, 2025.

Police reports claim that they found a young girl in an upstairs bedroom lying next to a mattress. She was pronounced dead after life-saving measures were attempted. The victim was later identified as 5-year-old Izabella Loving.
Parents talked to investigators, sharing conflicting stories over what happened the night of their daughter’s death. It was claimed that her father, Nicholas Loving, gave her a bath before putting her to bed. He claimed she had been coughing up blood and mucus for more than a week beforehand.
Izabella was then placed within a 5×5-foot box with a lock. According to ABC affiliate KOLO, an affidavit shared that, “Nicholas admitted that they would sometimes keep Izabella in a small make-shift cubby. He admitted having locked her inside on one occasion [as punishment] but that Andrea mostly put Izabella inside of it.”
Police reportedly found the box in the girl’s room, which she shared with her two sisters. Officers noticed that the sisters each had queen sized bed, while Izabella only appeared to have a crib-sized mattress on the floor.
The Couple Could Also Face Further Charges
The parents claimed that they were awakened in the middle of the night when one of their daughters shared that Izabella was vomiting. Andrea claimed she found Izabella dead within the “make-shift cubby.”
Despite this, the two waited until 7 a.m. to contact 911. They initially claimed this was when they found her unresponsive. Later, they had admitted they found her unresponsive hours beforehand. The two each blamed the other for postponing the call.
According to the Reno Gazette Journal, the two told authorities that they were worried because they had recently been investigated by Child Protective Services. They were also concerned about bruises on their daughter’s body.
Nicholas Loving was charged with child abuse, causing substantial bodily harm within a few days. He is currently being held on a $1 million cash bond.
Andrea wasn’t originally arrested alongside her husband. Later, however, the arrest affidavit claimed she told police, “I should go to jail for not helping her and Nick should go to jail for killing her.” She was later arrested, facing the same charge. Her bail has not been specified.
According to the Washoe County District Attorney’s office, the two could still face further charges. This includes possible murder or manslaughter charges as authorities are waiting on autopsy results.
