In one recent story trending on social media, fans have grown concerned over Lawson Bates, with a photo going around showing him trending on social media. However, the story might be more complicated than fans realize, with the family sharing a big update on social media.

A Social Media Post Asked Fans To Pray For Lawson Bates

Fans became introduced to the Bates family through various reality shows, including United Bates of America and Bringing Up Bates. William “Lawson” Bates in the fourth child of Gil and Kelly Jo Bates.

In his own personal life, Lawson married Tiffany Espensen in 2022. Together, they share a son, Tiffany, and a second baby expected to arrive sometime in Winter 2025.

Recently, stories have come out concerning Lawson, saying that he was recently in an accident. As one post shared, “Prayers Needed: Lawson Bates Seriously Injured in Accident, Concussion Confirmed, Fans Left Worried.” In addition to Bates family fans, the story also appeared to be trending among fans of another prominent reality show family: the Duggars of Counting On fame.

However, the story is believed to be something of a hoax. While it is known that Lawson was genuinely hurt in an accident, the viral story made the incident appear much more recent than it actually was, as the photo has been around since 2020

Lawson Previously Discussed Facing A Concussion In A Video On Social Media

The story appears to be based on one that occurred back in mid-2020. Taking to social media at the time he was recovering from the incident, Lawson shared a video on X where he shared some details over what was going on.

Lawson shared he has a “little bit of a situation,” while showing viewers a mark on his head. He explained he endured a “concussion and I’m not quite 100% yet. So I’m not going to say too much.”

In a caption, Lawson wrote, “Yesterday I had a bit of an accident, but I’m very thankful for the folks who took care of me at the ER. I hope to be on the up and back to 100% soon.” He then wished fans, “Have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend everyone.”

Other accidents involving Lawson have also made headlines since the 2020 story. As noted by People, reports had also come out in 2022 that Lawson was involved in an accident in Knoxville that totaled his car.

Bates shared, “Life can change so fast, and I was quickly reminded of that. Although the car is completely totaled, I’m feeling very grateful to be [okay,] and relieved the other driver was alright as well. Definitely grateful for God’s protection today!”

Kelly Jo Bates Herself Later Addressed The Truth Of The Matter On Instagram

Eventually, the Bates family also responded to the story, explaining the truth of the matter. Taking to Instagram, Kelly Jo shared, “Sadly, several FAKE accounts have popped up on Instagram and on Facebook that are sharing fake news.”

The Bates family matriarch then addressed the Lawson story directly. As she shared, “A recent FAKE post shows Lawson in a hospital & states he was in a motorcycle wreck. These fake accounts often scam people by asking for donations!”

Kelly Jo continued, assuring fans the Bates family wouldn’t ask for money. She continued, “I will never ask for money for myself or a family member. Our official accounts on Instagram and Facebook have a verified blue check mark. I have included the true Facebook link in my stories.”
