Disgruntled Subway Manager Takes 10-Year-Old Prisoner
Subway is supposed to be a place to walk in, place an order, get what you want, and exit. Some do have tables for in-store dining, but it is subs on the go. Unfortunately, a manager in Jacksonville, Florida, was not too happy about what went down in his store. On July 21st, 2025, James Anthony Morris Jr. was managing his shop when a young girl and her mother came in. James had allegedly just mopped the floor, and the ten-year-old ended up walking on the clean spot. Immediately, her mother asked her to apologize for what she had done.

Despite this effort, James grabbed the minor by the hand and locked the minor in a room. At first, her mother did not think James was being serious and was just playing with her daughter. Eventually, she realized that this was far more serious and started to “panic.” Although the mother jumped into action and tried to retrieve her child, James fought back. She did cry for help, but was able to free her daughter from the room, which must have been terrifying for both of them. There was an employee in earshot who heard the mother crying out.

They noted that they saw what James had done and found his Subway manager acting “weird.” It is unclear why the employee did not jump into action when it all went down, but they did give a statement. When it comes to the girl, 10, she shared that James “gripped her hand even tighter” once he got her into the room. He proceeded to go on a rampage about how horrible her parents were and are, and she believed this was a kidnapping.
Bailed Out?
James Anthony Morris Jr. was arrested, but stayed quiet during his whole ordeal. Ultimately, the Subway manager was charged with false imprisonment of a child under the age of 13. It was just one charge, and he bonded himself out on $5K. As of now, James will return to court on August 13th, 2025. Followers of the story debated over who needs more help: the manager or the mother:
- And her mother needs parenting classes. It is hard enough doing labor and to be disrespected. I guess he had enough.
- He actually sounds like he needs anger management.
One person felt James taught the girl how to be respectful of others, but this seems excessive. It also feels cruel and like a very harsh punishment.
