Utah Couple Tortured Toddler Daughter, Talked Murder
A Utah couple has been accused of torturing their toddler daughter and even talking about murdering her. This all went down on June 28th, and the details of what occurred are absolutely horrendous. Keep reading for more on this tragic situation.
Utah Couple Discussed Murdering Toddler
In Sandy, Utah, a horrific situation unfolded between Amber Leary and her boyfriend, Tyrel Belone. Tyrel worked as a traveling nurse, so the hope was that he had some compassion. Sadly, that was not the case. Upon moving to Utah in May 2025, Amber’s three-year-old daughter began struggling with potty training. Although it appeared she had been on a good track, that quickly ended when they arrived in their new home. In the early hours of June 28th, the toddler allegedly went to the bathroom in the corner of the home. The couple cleaned up the mess, but Amber had to be at work early in the morning.
Before she went in, Tyrel allegedly picked up the toddler and threw her onto the bed. Rather than just landing on the mattress, she proceeded to slam her head into the wall. Authorities soon learned of an assault and headed to the home. The toddler’s mother showed them where the little girl was, and she was severely damaged. She was silent and motionless, with bruises all over. As it turned out, a week before this happened, Tyrel Belone told Amber he wanted to kill her daughter. He sent a text message stating:
“I am going to murder her.”
When Tyrel hurt the toddler, Amber allegedly wanted to call 911, but her boyfriend would not allow her. He claimed that she had nothing, and no one was there for her, so he would go to jail, leaving the Utah mom alone. That was when Amber worried her daughter might die, but it did not seem to matter to Tyrel. He did call his nurse practitioner mother, who agreed that a hospital visit was in order. Finally, he went outside to smoke, and that allowed Amber to phone the authorities.
What’s Next?
As it turned out, Tyrel Belone had hurt the toddler the week he said he would kill her. Amber Leary shared that after she was done with work, she saw her daughter, swollen and bruised. At that point, the Utah mother should have left and called the cops on Tyrel. However, she did not do that, and it continued to go downhill. The couple is now being charged with:
- first-degree felony attempted aggravated murder
- one count of first-degree felony aggravated child abuse
- one count of first-degree felony child torture
As of now, it is unclear where the couple stands with legal representation and a court date. Hopefully, they have to pay for what they did to this poor girl, and she is placed in a loving space.
