Mysterious Remains May Be Missing Marissa DiNapoli
Whenever someone goes missing, a full search ensues. All of the person’s last known places are scouted, and everyone who came in contact with them is questioned. The hope is that no stone will go unturned and the person will be reunited with their loved ones in some capacity. As for Marissa DiNapoli, she was just eighteen when she went missing. The last time she was seen was on Sunday, June 29th, and she was with her boyfriend, Martin Mendoza, 21. Her family and authorities have been searching for her, and now, they have recovered remains around Anderson Lake County Park.
This was roughly three and a half miles from where Marissa was last spotted. Unfortunately, the condition that the body made it nearly impossible to identify who it was. A medical exam was underway to confirm if it in fact, Marissa. As of the evening of Thursday, July 3rd, it was confirmed to be hers, and vigils have been held to honor the late teen. When Marissa last had contact with her family, it was Saturday, June 28th. She claimed to be staying with a friend for the night, but never came home. That was when they attempted to call her, with no luck.
Marissa DiNapoli’s car was found, but now, they are looking at Martin Mendoza as a person of interest. Video footage caught Martin questioning Marissa over a text to her ex. Marissa’s best friend, Jaslyn Gutierrez, admitted she was scared of what Martin was capable of. More so, she worried about what he could and might do to Marissa. Jaslyn shared this tidbit of information:
“Marissa has told me, firsthand in the car with my friends outside of my house, that he would kill her, that he would not stop, that he’s obsessed with her, that he’s crazy and that he’s willing to go to that extent.”
It is unclear if anyone knew of the girls’ fears surrounding Martin, or if these words remained private.
A Popular Place
The area where Marissa DiNapoli’s body was found was a place that her boyfriend often took her. So, it would make sense why that became a hot spot. Friends and family have spoken out over the news and are truly heartbroken that this story had such a tragic end. The hope is that Martin can be caught. Plus, if he did do this, he can explain what his motives were, although nothing can bring Marissa back. Obviously, everyone wanted a different outcome from this. Hopefully, they can all get a resolution sooner rather than later.
