‘Fortnite’ Battle Leaves Young Man Dead
A Fortnite battle has left a twenty-six-year-old man dead on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025. This is a very popular game, but how did something that was created for fun end in a bloodbath? Keep reading for all of the tragic details of the situation.
Fortnite Battle Leaves Young Man Dead
There is a lot of violence in the hit video game, Fortnite, so it is recommended that children do not play it. At the same time, it has many cartoon elements, therefore, parents are allowing it in their homes. The hope is that people will play peacefully and remember that this is just a game, nothing to be taken too seriously. Unfortunately, a man in Florida went over the top, and a battle for the game ended in a death. Kelly Agar Garcia, 43, was at his home with his wife, Adriane, and her three children. Adriane has two young kids, 11 and 9, plus an older son, Azareel J. Martinez, 26.
It seems that the nine-year-old was told by his mother not to play the game on his phone. He did not listen to her demands, so when she took his phone away, he went to get a gun from her nightstand. It was a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun, but before he could do any damage, his stepfather came in. Kelly got the gun from the young child, but he soon got into it with Azareel. That was when Kelly chose violence and shot his stepson several times in the chest as well as abdomen.
Allegedly, Azareel was able to leave the room, but Kelly continued to shoot him from behind, and that was when he officially fell over. Sadly, he passed away before he could make it to the hospital. Police Chief Steve Parker had this to say about the tragic incident:
“I truly believe that if that child did not know where that gun was, none of this would have happened today, none of it. It’s sad.”
Taking away Fortnite seemed so innocent until it wasn’t, and now, someone is dead.
Punishment For The Crime
After the Fortnite battle ended in death, what happened to Kelly Agar Garcia? He is currently in jail and has been charged with second-degree murder as well as unlawful storage of a firearm. This is a big issue as a minor was able to easily grab the gun. Again, had the nine-year-old not known where the gun was, this may have never happened. After people found out what happened, they blamed Adriane for marrying someone like Kelly:
