A driver recently found themselves getting into trouble during a traffic stop in Louisiana. At the time, the moment happened just as the driver was on their way to a funeral. However, what soon happened ended up causing a viral moment on social media.

A Louisiana sheriff’s deputy shared the story on social media. As the deputy shared, he stopped a driver for speeding.

Soon, however, the traffic stop soon became an emotional moment. The deputy realized that the driver was on their way to a funeral.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office shared the story on Facebook. The deputy, identified as Dustin Byers, pulled the anonymous driver on Highway 21 in St. Tammany Parish. In fact, the post dubbed the story, “A Traffic Stop Comes With a Side of Compassion.”

The post continued, “Deputy Dustin Byers with the 4th District recently stopped a driver for speeding on Highway 21. The man explained he was on his way to a funeral and was having a tough day.
To top it off, he couldn’t get his tie right.”

The Story Inspired Various Commenters To Share Other Touching Stories

It was at this point the story shared a touching moment. As it explained, “Without hesitation, Deputy Byers helped him out…not just with the knot, but with a moment of kindness he won’t forget.”

In a photo, the deputy was seen helping the unnamed driver with his tie. The post then ended things with a “reminder” that “compassion still exists, even on the side of the road.”

With the story, many commenters wondered if the driver still ended up getting a ticket despite the touching moment. According to People, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed the driver received a speeding citation.

Taking to social media, commenters also noted that they had similar experiences with police, even with the St. Tammany officers. Some comments included:

  • “The other day in a rush to my dad s funeral didn’t come to a complete stop at a stop sign in my neighborhood and a St. Tammany officer pulled me over explained why he did and made my explanation.
