How To Unlink & Find Contacts On TikTok

TiikTok has gradually become one of the most popular social media platforms in the world. It currently boasts over one billion users. People have been using the platform to share all sorts of videos with the world, from news to viral memes, and everything in between. That said, some aspects of TikTok, like managing contacts, can still be tricky for fans.
TikTok Users May Choose To Turn Off ‘Contact Sync’ While Using The Platform
When a contact is linked, this means it is unified with similar contacts in the user’s contact list. This is also known as “contact sync” on TikTok.

The TikTok support website already offers users steps on how to unlink contacts when this occurs. The step-by-step process goes as follows:
- Users first need to open the TikTok app and select Profile at the bottom.
- Press the Menu button on top. Then choose Settings and privacy.
- Select Privacy.
- Users must then select “Sync contacts and Facebook friends.”
- Now, users can turn the “Sync contacts” setting off.
Doing this will also turn connect access from across a user’s device settings off. That said, TikTok will continue to suggest accounts based on contacts that had previously been synced.
Users can also choose to remove all their contacts. The process is similar, with users choosing the “Remove previously synced contacts” option under “Sync contacts and Facebook friends.”
Conversely, users might also be interested in finding and linking contacts on TikTok. After all, users would like to find and follow people they know. This just requires giving the platform permission to do so. The step-by-step process also goes as follows:
- Users must select the Profile button on the bottom after opening TikTok.
- Select the Add Friends button next to the Share profile.
- If users never previously synced the device’s contacts, they should tap Find next to Contacts. Otherwise, they should simply select Contacts.
- Select Follow.
In recent years, various trends have come out that help showcase how powerful TikTok’s reach has grown. According to the Pew Research Center, in a post shared this past December, around one-third of adults in the United States use TikTok. 59% of adults under 30 share that they use the app. Meanwhile, 40% of Americans from ages 30 to 39 and 26% of those 50 to 64 also shared that they use the platform.
Various Trends Have Come Out On Who Uses The Platform & What They Use It For
Around 60% of teenagers, people aged from 13 to 17, also shared that they used TikTok. Over half, at around 57%, shared they used it daily. Only around 16% admitted to being on the platform “almost constantly.”
