13 Charity Donations That End Up Trashed

Every day, many people go through their own clutter and old clothes, determined to downsize and donate items to charity. However, not all of those donations make it to the shelves of thrift stores. There are many items that get tossed immediately into the trash. Below are 13 items often donated that never stand a chance of being resold.
- Wire hangers are just not used much anymore. They create more hardships such as snags than they are worth. So, many places do not even waste their time with these anymore.
- Stained Clothing is also going straight to the dumpster. Thrift stores are not going to wash old clothing in hopes of selling it. They will simply chuck it into the garbage.
- Chipped dishes are also pretty useless. Most of the time, they will throw them away. The majority of people do not want your broken dishes. If there are missing pieces to a set, it may also get tossed out.
- Stuffed animals are a dime a dozen when it comes to thrift stores. Unless they are in impeccable condition, they could most likely end up at the dump.
- Outdated electronics may also get the boot. Nobody has a need or desire for old printers that are so outdated they will not even be compatible with current computers. Plus, it might be next to impossible to find ink cartridges that will fit.
- Engraved personal items, such as trophies, are not wanted by most people. In some cases, they could keep a few, but these will mostly just be tossed.
- Encyclopedias are another item that is often just taken to the landfill. They are outdated and nobody uses them anymore. Plus, they are heavy.
- Single shoes are also not making it to the sales floor. They will go straight into the trash. Most humans do not want to wear mismatched shoes, so there is no point in keeping them.
- Expired beauty products are also not going to be resold. Just toss it into the trash and save everyone some time.
- Worn-out purses have no use in thrift stores. If you didn’t want a worn-out purse, why would anyone else? Chances are, they will be tossed.
- Outdated cell phones and chargers are also pretty pointless. With technology constantly evolving, nobody will be able to use that old cell phone from 2004 that has been hiding in your attic.
- Promotional swag is probably going to get tossed into the garbage as well. All those t-shirts you got for advertisements are useless and will be sent to the dump.
- VHS tapes are also a thing of the past, and unless they are brand new and sealed, they will not see the shelves of a thrift store.
While everyone has good intentions in mind, there are some donations that will head straight to a landfill. Just something to think about next time you start getting those donation boxes ready to drop off.
