7 Ways To Ruin A Relationship Without Even Knowing It

Love can feel like a battlefield. In fact, there’s a few songs even saying as much. One thing can easily make or break a relationship. However, this isn’t just big things. Even small things can slowly bring a love story to its conclusion.
Habits, Good & Bad, Can End Up Causing Big Consequences In A Relationship
There are a few habits someone can keep in mind when it comes to keeping their relationships happy, healthy, and strong. While many things are fine here and there, certain habits can really cause trouble if done too often.
- Hand gestures: Certain hand gestures can come off as much more aggressive, even when they are meant to be playful. Making fists when angry or dismissing things with a wave can insult someone. Fidgeting while someone is speaking can make someone feel like you’re not giving them your full attention. Keep in mind, not using any gestures can be a problem, too, as they can make your partner feel you don’t like to express your emotions or be open with them.
- Being Too Sarcastic: People like to be sarcastic when they want to make a point. They think it makes them sound smart. Sometimes, people are just sarcastic when they just want to be coy. However, being overly sarcastic too often can eventually become insulting. Even if you don’t target your sarcasm towards your partner, they might worry they might one day get on your bad side.
- Blame shifting: No one likes being blamed for things they didn’t do. However, it’s unhealthy to always assume you are always in the right and never take responsibility for your part in an argument. Still, too much blame shifting comes off as passive-aggressive and manipulative. It also can make you come off as egotistical.
- Fixing Instead Of Preventing: People say it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. However, in a relationship, there are times when someone pushes too far. It’s best to find ways of preventing problems than simply fixing them.
- Focusing On The Negatives: Focusing on what isn’t working druing a relationship is an easy way to develop resentment. Focus on the positives and why they outweigh the bad.
- Attacking People Important To Your Partner: People often prioritize their partner over the other people in their lives, but there are limits. At times, opposing other people who are important to them could eventually backfire. Even if the other person doesn’t want to get along with you, it’s important to always try to be respectful towards others and show you tried.
- Not Spending Enough Time Together: People will have a lot of responsibilities in their life, such as work. However, couples need to spend time together to let each other know they like being together. Making time is always a priority. It’s also important this time is spent in-person as much as possible.
Ultimately, every couple is different. Still, real love is more than a fairy tale. In the end, however, showing effort can make a big difference in the long run.
