Last year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said goodbye to the British Royal Family. The couple announced they were stepping down from their senior royal responsibilities. Since then, they made their big move to the U.S. Now, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are leaving social media for good.

The couple has gotten increased hate for leaving the BRF. And they don’t want any more part of it. Previously, rumors swirled that Meghan would revise her lifestyle website, The Tig. But it doesn’t look like it’ll happen. Instead, Harry and Meghan their new Archewell website and associating podcast.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are sick of the social media “hate”

According to a new report, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want nothing to do with social media. The couple has now sworn off social media for good. This comes just one year after stepping down from their senior royal duties. They continue to shock people with their moves.

On Saturday, January 9, the Time of London reported that the couple is “very unlikely” to return to social media anytime soon. They don’t want to deal with Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Both Meghan and Harry have gotten increased “hate” on the platforms. An insider told the British newspaper that the royal couple doesn’t want to use social media to promote their new nonprofit venture, the Archewell Foundation.

Meghan Markle addressed cyberbullying before

They think they’re better off without it. And neither Meghan Markle nor Prince Harry probably won’t use social media for their own personal use. Meghan previously spoke out about the “almost unsurvivable” cyberbullying she received during an October 2020 appearance on the Teenager Therapy podcast. During the interview, the duo stressed the importance of mental health and social media.

“I’m told that in 2019 I was the most trolled person in the entire world, male or female,” Meghan said during the episode. “Now, eight months of that I wasn’t even visible, I was on maternity leave or with a baby. But what was able to just be manufactured and churned out, it’s almost unsurvivable, that’s so big, you can’t think of what that feels like, because I don’t care if you’re 15 or 25, if people are saying things about you that aren’t true, what that does to your mental and emotional health is so damaging.”

Just a year prior, Harry released a statement. He addressed his wife’s “private suffering” and called for an end to the online harassment. The couple hasn’t been active on social media since posting a goodbye message in March 2020 on the Sussex Royal profile. They already hinted that “while you may not see us here, the work continues.”

Most Googled Royal isn’t the most popular

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were named the most Googled people in 2020. Yahoo UK named Meghan the most Googled person in 2018 and the most-searched royal in 2019. However, being the most-Googled person doesn’t always mean they’re well-liked. Their popularity has reportedly decreased since leaving the royal family last year.
