Unless an unforeseen legal challenge succeeds, President Trump and his family will have to vacate the White House next month. On January 20, 2021, President-elect Joe Biden will take over the Presidency, as well as the residency at the White House.

Where might the Trump family go?

Donald and Melania Trump Are Official Residents of Florida

In 2019, President Trump went public with his plans to become a permanent resident of Florida. The lifelong New Yorker was fed up with the high taxes in NY, along with his on-going feud with NY Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Surprisingly, he actually went through with his threats. In late 2019, Donald and Melania Trump officially filed the paperwork to become Florida residents. In fact, they voted in the 2020 election as Florida residents. They both voted by absentee ballot.

The Trumps are now legal residents of Florida. But Trump still owns his Trump Tower residency in New York City.

…But They May Not Be Able to Live at Mar-a-Lago Full-Time

The assumption would be that the Trumps would move to his Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Florida. PEOPLE reports that the property is currently undergoing construction, possibly ahead of Trump’s big move to the Sunshine State.

However, living at Mar-a-Lago full-time would be breaking the contract he signed back in 1985 when he bought the property. Yahoo News reports that per his contract, neither Trump, nor any of the other members, can stay there for more than 7 days straight, or 21 days in a calendar year.

But it seems Trump has already flouted these rules by making Mar-a-Lago his “Winter White House.” The outlet reports that between 2016 and 2019, Trump already spent 133 days at the Palm Beach property.

It’s unclear where Trump will relocate to after he leaves the White House. A source told PEOPLE that the family will be “traveling between” their multiple homes.

Trump Still Fighting Election Results

It’s been almost a month since the election was unofficially called for Joe Biden. In the time since, Trump has filed dozens of lawsuits, seeking to reverse the election results. Several recounts have been done, which have only ended up giving Biden even MORE votes.

But still, the outgoing President refuses to concede. With time running out, he filed yet another lawsuit accusing Georgia of election fraud.

Trump has said that he will concede the raise if, and only if, the Electoral College certifies Biden as the winner of the 2020 Presidential election on December 14, 2020.
