Erin and Chad Paine set off to the hospital near their home in DeLand, Florida, in August when she went into labor. Her seventh child wasn’t due for another month, but was impatient to join the world.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t a smooth birth for either of them. Born prematurely, baby Henry spent weeks in the NICU to gain his strength. His mother nearly died after suffering complications following the birth.

After nearly a month in the hospital, they were finally released. But Erin Bates Paine was still struggling to regain the use of one of her legs. She was finally able to walk on her own recently after weeks of immobility.

Henry Blythe Paine arrived earlier than he was supposed to. His first few weeks were difficult, but Erin Bates Paine and her husband documented the baby’s early moments.

Now that they’re safe and home from the hospital, she’s opening up more about the traumatic birth. Erin Bates Paine is grateful for her healthy baby despite everything. She often shares photos and videos of her newborn. A professional photographer was brought in recently for a photoshoot to mark a very special day.

The couple took to Instagram on Tuesday, October 7, to mark what was supposed to be Henry’s due date. “Dear Henry, You were supposed to arrive today, but God gave us six extra weeks with you,” the caption began.

The text continued, “After all He’s brought us through, I’m just so thankful to be here together – alive and healing. You are our little miracle.”
