The Family Had Made A Name For Themselves Travelling The World

Garrett Gee is an influencer who met his wife Jessica in 2009 when they were involved with service missions in Russia. Years later, they started dating while attending school in Utah.

As noted by People, the family could certainly afford the move. At the time, Snapchat bought Garrett’s mobile app for $54 million.

Since then, the family has become known as “The Bucket List Family” online. Fans have followed the family on Instagram and YouTube as they travel the world, proclaimed as “Family Travel Journalists.”

However, Garrett recently surprised viewers during a recent Instagram video. As seen, he tossed his 7-year-old son Calihan off a cliff. Reportedly, the action was done to help the boy conquer his fears.

In the video, a caption read, “Most people won’t love how we teach our kids how to cliff jump.” Calihan could be seen standing on a rock formation in Lake Powell alongside his father. After a pep talk encouraging Calihan to jump in the water, Garrett ultimately picked him up and threw him in.

The Video Also Ended Things With A Surprising Warning

Calihan could be heard screaming as he fell. However, he was smiling when his head surfaced out of the water. His dad then jumped in beside him, giving him a thumbs up and a smile. Onlookers at the site also cheered on the boy.

In the post, the family wrote, “This is NOT parental advice. This is NOT something I advise you try. Also, this is NOT something we’ve done with all of our kids. Each kid is quite different so the way we parent, discipline, and teach HOW TO CLIFF JUMP is quite different.”

The post also assured the family made sure everything was safe. It continued, “We took our youngest Cali to a cliff height that we knew he would be safe. Really, the biggest danger would be if he hesitated, didn’t jump far out, and fell down the cliff side. So, to be extra safe, because he wanted to jump but was not feeling confident. I threw him.” The post also compared the action to a baby eagle leaving the nest.

Things were concluded with a tongue-in-cheek warning. It read, “Teaching your kids to be brave starts to backfire when they become older and begin jumping from heights that you don’t even dare!!”
