Murderous Bride Goes MIA On Honeymoon
Sonam Raghuvanshi married her husband Raja Raghuvansh, and they soon went on their honeymoon in Meghalaya. This came after the duo tied the knot on May 11th in a traditional Indian wedding, which both families were approving of. Then, less than a week after heading off to their honeymoon, they were reported missing. After a week had passed, Raja’s dead body was found, as his throat had been cut and valuables stolen from his person. So, where was Sonam, as the authorities undoubtedly thought the worst for her, as well?
Her family was not happy with how the search for Sonam and Raja’s killers was going. Finally, on Sunday, June 8th, Sonam entered a restaurant called Kashi Dhaba. That was when she asked for a phone and sobbed to her brother. Within half an hour, the authorities showed up, but it was not just Sonam’s doing. She had allegedly hired three other people to do her dirty work for her:
“One person was picked up from Uttar Pradesh and another two accused were apprehended from Indore. Sonam surrendered at the Nandganj police station and was subsequently arrested.”
There is still one more person on the loose that they are looking for, per Chief Minister Conrad Sangma:
“Within 7 days a major breakthrough has been achieved by the #meghalayapolice in the Raja murder case…3 assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, female has surrendered and operation still on to catch 1 more assailant .. well done #meghalayapolice.”
As of now, Sonam’s family is denying that she did anything wrong while on her honeymoon. Her father is especially firm that all she did was escape those who kidnapped her. However, it does not appear that he has spoken to his daughter directly. Currently, no motive is known, but the hope is that Sonam will eventually break down and share her reasoning.
The Plot Thickens
According to Sonam’s father, Devi Singh, the couple did not know each other prior to the wedding or honeymoon. Therefore, what reason could she possibly have for killing Raja? He added this:
“Sonam and Raja did not know each other before marriage. It was an arranged marriage. I have not been able to speak to my daughter. Only my son, Govind, spoke to Sonam. Meghalaya Police is trying to trap Sonam in this case. If CBI inquiry is done, officials of the Police Station in Meghalaya will be behind bars.”
Finally, it seems that Sonam may have been unfaithful, but that has yet to be confirmed. Right now, the most important part of this murder is the “why.”
