Oscar Isaac may be continuing his run of spooky TV shows with a new Amazon series. The actor has been on a hot streak of popular fantasy and sci-fi roles. Nearly everyone has seen him in massive hits like Dune, Moon Knight, or the most recent Star Wars trilogy. Following up major roles like this, it seems as though Isaac is on board to star in this new Amazon series with the title Helltown. And for this role, he’ll be working with the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and All Quiet On The Western Front director Ed Berger.
Oscar Isaac Chills
Helltown comes from a true crime novel written by Casey Sherman that was a bestseller in 2022. The story is set in the 1960s and is about serial killer Tony Costa in Cape Cod. Oscar Isaac is set to play Kurt Vonnegut. One of the great American writers of the 20th century who pursued this killer.
“When young women begin to disappear, Costa’s natural charisma and good looks initially protect him from suspicion,” reads the book’s synopsis on Amazon. “But as the bodies are discovered, the police close in on him as the key suspect. Meanwhile, local writers Kurt Vonnegut and Norman Mailer are locked in a desperate race to secure their legacies as great literary icons. And they both set their sights on Tony Costa and the drug-soaked hippie culture that he embodies as their next promising subject. Launching independent investigations that stoke the competitive fires between two of the greatest American writers.”
The director of the series, Ed Berger, is just coming off an amazing Oscar run for All Quiet On The Western Front. The war film took home the second-most accolades at the ceremony, just behind Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. It seems as though there is a lot of promising talent going into this show. It’s set to arrive on Amazon Prime Video in the near future.
Moon Knight
Oscar Isaac is still cast as Moon Knight in the MCU. Although the future of the character seems a bit uncertain at the moment. Many of the Disney+ MCU shows got complaints for feeling a little underwhelming. Moon Knight got one of the best receptions of the bunch. But there still isn’t any confirmation about the character making a return anytime soon. Amid many complaints about the MCU’s recent “quantity over quality” output, Marvel gave the announcement that they’re postponing many of their upcoming shows indefinitely. That includes series like Agatha: Coven Of Chaos and Echo. There is no Season 2 announcement for Moon Knight just yet. Plus, no way of knowing if one is coming soon.
There is no set release window for Helltown yet, but Moon Knight Season 1 is out on Disney+ now.
