The POTUS Twitter account has rolled over. What once belonged to former President Donald Trump is now in the hands of President Joe Biden. Chrissy Teigen is the first celebrity followed by the official presidential Twitter account. This comes after years of feuding with Trump.
Chrissy Teigen is the only celebrity followed by President Joe Biden on Twitter
On Wednesday night, January 20, Joe Biden’s new Twitter account was only following 12 people. Eleven of those include government officials and Chrissy Teigen herself. It’s not surprising since Teigen loves to speak out about politics. She’s one of the few celebrities who got a follow from President Joe Biden. But the reason why she got the follow is that she asked him before his inauguration.
“Hello @joebiden I have been blocked by the president for four years can I get a follow plz,” Teigen tweeted.
Biden granted her wish. The 35-year-old traveled to Washington, D.C. for the inauguration with her two kids and husband John Legend. He performed on the Celebrating America television special, which aired on Wednesday night. Teigen shared her excitement when she got news about the Twitter follow.
“OH MY GOD !!!!!!!!!!” she tweeted. “My heart oh my god lmao I can finally see the president’s tweets and they probably won’t be unhinged.”

However, Teigen is the only celeb that @POTUS follows. She changed her mind and added that, “I should prob never tweet again.” Teigen had an interesting relationship with the previous president. She was an outspoken critic of Trump and his policies. The model even announced that Trump blocked her on social media.
Biden takes control of POTUS Twitter account
On Wednesday, Joe Biden took oath as the 46th president. His presidency became officially confirmed during the inauguration. Now, Biden has full control of the @POTUS Twitter account. The tech company transferred the @POTUS and @WhiteHouse accounts from Trump to Biden. Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris took over the @VP account and first lady Jill Biden owns the @FLOTUS account. Doug Emhoff, the nation’s first second gentleman, now has @SecondGentleman, a newly made account.
“There is no time to waste when it comes to tackling the crises we face,” Biden wrote in his first-ever tweet since assuming control of the POTUS account. “That’s why today, I am heading to the Oval Office to get right to work delivering bold action and immediate relief for American families.”
We don't have a second to waste when it comes to getting this virus under control. That's why today, I'll be signing executive actions to expand testing, administer vaccines, and safely reopen schools and businesses.

Also, the official White House accounts on Facebook and Instagram have also transferred over to Biden. This comes after Twitter blocked Trump from its social media network. Biden managed to reverse another Trump decision. In the meantime, he reversed many of the former president’s orders, including the Muslim ban and funding for the wall at the Mexican border.
