Were The US Capitol Riots Planned Several Weeks Ago?

Chanel Adams

The U.S. Capitol riots might have been planned in advance. If so, President Donald Trump could find himself in more hot water. More than 50 police officers were injured and four people were killed at the Capitol Hill riot. Supporters of Trump took to the building to stop the confirmation of Joe Biden’s electoral victory.

One woman was shot by a police officer. The rest of the deaths stemmed from “medical emergencies,” according to police. Some are wondering if this was a random attack or if it was planned several weeks ago. Even Trump’s now-deleted tweets hint that something was meant to happen on Wednesday, January 6.

Were police aware of the U.S. Capitol riots?

The U.S. Capitol riots that took place on Wednesday were planned weeks in advance, according to Pro Republica. Police were not ready for the large event. Trump’s supporters talked about something that would take place on January 6. They discussed the idea of a violent protest on the day Congress would certify the results of the 2020 election.

“We came up with the idea to occupy just outside the CAPITOL on Jan 6th,” the leaders of the Stop the Steal movement wrote on December 23.

According to them, it was a Wild Protest, a name borrowed from one of Trump’s tweets. He encouraged his supporters to air their grievances outside the streets of Washington. It appears that he’s been hinting about the riots on Twitter for weeks without anyone knowing. In one of his tweets, he told his supporters: “Be there, will be wild!”

Ali Alexander, the founder of the movement, advised people to bring tents and sleeping bags. However, they went without wearing masks for the event.

“If D.C. escalates… so do we,” she wrote on Parler, the new right-wing social media app.

Most of the social media posts promised violence. Thousands of people followed that call and stormed Capitol on Wednesday. Videos showed police officers stepping aside and allowing rioters to take over the building. Some of the rioters even took selfies with the police officers who were supposed to protect the building.

Trump could get his Twitter account back

Since the U.S. Capitol riots, Trump deleted three tweets that got him locked out of Twitter on Wednesday. The social media site took action after the pro-Trump rioters stormed the Capitol building. Trump addressed the rioters and told them: “go home, we love you, you are very special.” But then he deleted the video. Twitter has since enacted a 12-hour ban in which he couldn’t tweet.

But once the time passes, he will have access to his account once again. Twitter warned Trump that he will have to be careful when he regains control of his account again. But some are calling for a permanent ban from Twitter. Meanwhile, others are asking for Vice President Mike Pence to impeach the 45th president.
