Is Justin Bieber leaving music behind for good? He’s reportedly going in a different direction. A new report revealed that he’s studying to become a full-time minister at Hillsong Church. This comes after the downfall of Carl Lentz.
In November 2020, he was let go from the church after he admitted his “moral failures.” Carl was fired for an alleged affair and it could use some help from a famous celebrity. The church has even come under fire for its anti-LGBTQ stance. But it’s desperate to rebrand itself and rehabilitate itself in an effort to attract young people back to the church.
Justin Bieber to become a minister?
It looks like the pop star is working on some new year’s resolutions. On Friday, December 31, Page Six reported that the “Yummy” singer is studying to become a minister. Justin Bieber wants to lead Hillsong Church after the firing of his former friend Carl Lentz. OK! Magazine was the first to break the news. However, that doesn’t mean that Bieber will give up music.
“Justin doesn’t plan to give up his music career, but he feels there’s a bigger calling out there for him,” an insider told OK! Magazine. “He wants to be a full-fledged minister next year.
The “Holy” singer has been a longtime follower of Hillsong Church. He credits the controversial church for saving him from the darkest days in his life. Bieber has become the institution’s most prominent figure and a regular choir, according to the insider. He was even good friends with the megachurch’s former pastor Lentz.
But the Biebers no longer follow him on social media. The “Baby” singer is hoping that he can help rebuild the church after Lentz’s firings.
“Justin believes that he can take a leadership position in restoring order,” the source told the tabloid. “Justin has never felt happier or healthier, and he says he owes it to the church.”
Kicks off 2021 with a new music video
Justin Bieber is still making music. He kicked off the new year with the release of his new music video “Anyone.” Bieber premiered the song during his special New Year’s Eve concert. The video shows him boxing and romancing actress Zoey Deutch.
“I can’t think of a better way to close out 2020 and kick-off 2021 than celebrating with my fans all over the world and sharing this new music video with them,” Bieber said in a statement, per Rolling Stone. “Music has gotten us all through so much this year, and for me personally it’s been healing and transformative. ‘Anyone’ is such a special, hopeful, anthemic song. It sets the tone for a brighter new year full of hope and possibility.”

The singer held a massive NYE concert
Justin Bieber headlined a New Year’s Eve concert at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. It was his first performance since his Purpose World Tour ended in 2017. Paparazzi took photos of Bieber rehearsing on a custom-built stage, where he live-streamed the performance. While fans had to pay $25 to watch the show, it allows artists to hold special concerts amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
