Polk County, Florida, deputies arrested Mark Phillips on December 14 for the charge of domestic violence. Phillips is the brother-in-law of Meghan Markle. Police booked Phillips into Polk County Jail for allegedly hitting his wife Samantha in the face. The altercation occurred after Phillips and Samantha argued over her needing assistance using the toilet.
Samantha is wheelchair-bound and needed help after she used the toilet. She asked Phillips to help her get off the toilet and he became angry. An argument followed and during the row Samantha told police that Phillips had struck her “on the right side of her face in the ear area.” Phillips left the scene after the alleged assault. Officers concluded that Phillips was the ‘primary aggressor.” They arrested him soon after. Police charged Phillips with one count of domestic assault.
It’s not the first time
The Phillips, unfortunately, are no strangers to hostile situations. The couple moved to Lakeland, Florida, in 2016 but previously they lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The police in both cities are familiar with the couple. Officers have responded to the Phillips residence on multiple occasions for domestic abuse-related calls. The volatile couple has also been involved in dust-ups with Samantha’s ex-husband, Scott Rasmussen. The former couple has a history of restraining orders stemming from a custody dispute. Scott and Samantha share a daughter, Noel. On one occasion Rasmussen and Noel required a police escort to remove Noel’s possessions from the Phillip’s residence.
Noel turned eighteen in 2016, ending the custody dispute. Phillips allegedly harassed Noel with abusive text messages throughout the process. Rasmussen filed an affidavit against Phillips in 2015 to that effect. The affidavits alleged that Phillips was abusive to Noel while they were in court, shouting profanity and calling her names like “stupid f***ing b**ch.”
The most recent issue Phillips and Samantha had with the law was in 2018. Samantha called the police about a car accident she was allegedly involved in. She claimed to have a broken ankle because of the collision. Samantha claimed the paparazzi caused her accident. But, after making the call, police were unable to locate any collision matching Samantha’s claims. Lt. Kim Montes with Florida Highway Patrol said, “We can’t find any reports basically from all of central Florida. We can’t find a report by name or a scenario that was similar to this.”

The Duchess of Sussex and Samantha have had an estranged relationship since 2008. Samantha has never even met Prince Harry or Archie. She has also taken swipes at Meghan through the years over multiple “affronts”. Samantha has expressed her displeasure over Meghan refusing to contact their father Thomas Markle Sr. Samantha has also referred to Meghan Markle as “Princess Pushy” and has derogatorily referred to her as “social climber.”
