Meghan Markle Won Over The Royals With Her Gag Gift In 2017

Meghan Markle won points for her gag gift to Prince William. For the first time in years, the royal family won’t be together for Christmas at Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham estate. The monarch will remain at Windsor Castle with her husband Prince Philip due to the coronavirus pandemic. The rest of the family will celebrate separately due to the new lockdown restrictions put into place.

Of course, the royals will take part in their own Christmas gift exchange. Entertainment Chronicle previously reported that Prince Harry and Meghan have already exchanged gifts with Prince William and Kate Middleton. However, it’s unclear whether they will continue the tradition with gag gifts this year. This time-honored tradition has been a big part of the royal family.

What did Meghan Markle give Prince William in 2017?

During her first Christmas with the royal family in 2017, Meghan Markle impressed everyone with her gift-giving skills. It’s no shock that the Suits alum can do it all. At the time, she gave her future brother-in-law, Prince William, a gag gift that made everyone smile. In the new book, Finding Freedom, royal journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand revealed that gift-gifting in the royal family is “an audition like no other, and [Meghan] wanted to impress her future royal relative.”

“To that end, Meghan’s biggest challenge was finding the perfect novelty gifts to amuse her new extended family,” the book’s authors wrote, as per People. “At least one of her gifts was a huge hit – a spoon for William that had ‘cereal killer’ embossed on the shallow bowl end of the utensil.”

Meghan, Harry, and their son Archie are spending their first Christmas in their new home in Montecito, California. An insider told People that the family is “excited to decorate for Christmas.” Kate and William will reside at their country home of Anmer Hall in Norfolk. Most of England is under strict COVID-19 lockdown restrictions due to a new infectious strain in the U.K.

The Sussex and Cambridge families have already exchanged their Christmas presents ahead of the holiday. They sent presents back and forth as they celebrate their socially-distanced Christmas.

Duchess of Sussex shared this holiday tip pre-COVID

Meghan Markle had a lifestyle blog long before she married into the royal family. She was the woman behind The Tig, a website that covered everything from food to travel. The Tig shut down before Meghan’s royal wedding. But there are still archives of it on the internet.

In one of her blog posts, she wrote that it’s sometimes okay to spend the holidays at home. While this was written before the pandemic, her advice is greatly needed. Some of Meghan’s tips include disconnecting from the internet, playing relaxing music, pampering yourself, and binging on your favorite movies. She also told her readers that they can recreate the hotel experience at home.

Most people aren’t able to spend the holidays as they usually would. Who know that Meghan’s advice would come in handy for 2020. She has always talked about the importance of a good staycation. It’s something that we could all keep in mind.
