Camilla Parker Bowles made a rare appearance on Britain’s Strictly Come Dancing. This comes years after the rumors that she would replace Len Goodman on the dancing competition. Prince Charles’ wife is a huge fan of the show. She filmed two pre-recorded clips that aired on Saturday evening, December 19.

Duchess of Cornwall appeared on Britain’s Strictly Come Dancing

It’s rare for a royal to appear on a reality show. But Camilla is such a huge fan of the show that she wanted to make a rare appearance, per The New York Post. The Duchess watches the show every week and has voted for her favorite dancer. For those who don’t know, Strictly Come Dancing is Britain’s version of Dancing with the Stars.

“[Her team] said she would be happy to do anything, so when they asked her to film a cameo for the final, she leaped at the chance,” an insider told The Sun on Saturday, December 19. “Camilla said her dream was always to appear on the series but royal protocol probably wouldn’t allow it.”

Camilla’s segments appeared on the season finale of the show. She praised the series for brightening up the nation during the coronavirus pandemic. Like DWTS, Strictly Come Dancing moved forward with its efforts to film safely.

“She thanked Strictly for helping her get through the hell of 2020 and adding a bit of much-needed cheer,” the insider said. “She votes every week and has been quite open to friends and family about who her favorite is. The Duchess declined to name him or her when asked on camera as she is far too polite.”

Camilla last visited the Strictly set back in 2011. Her cameo on Saturday night’s finale comes after Prince Harry made a video for the show last month. He showed support for her friend JJ Palmers.

Did the Royals help give the show a boost in ratings?

Did Camilla Parker Bowles and Prince Harry give Strictly Come Dancing a boost in ratings? Or, was it just needed in these times? An audience of 13.2 million viewers watched comedian Bill Bailey win the 2020 Glitterball trophy on Saturday night, according to the BBC. The 55-year-old became the first contestant to win the BBC One show, which he described as “surreal.”

The show was the most-watched among all of their channels. They received a 53.3% audience share and an average of 11.6 million viewers.

“Strictly has provided much-needed sparkle to our weekends this autumn, and last night’s final brought pure joy to more than 13 million viewers all over the UK as Bill and Oti lifted the Glitterball,” Kate Phillips, controller of BBC One, said in a statement.

At first, Bailey felt that his dancing skills were “patchy” since he went up against the younger competition. But now that he won, he calls it “surreal … extraordinary” and “wonderful.” The final broadcast comes after Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, announced harsher restrictions to combat the spread of COVID-19. This also led to the cancellation of Christmas for millions of Britons.
