Snoop Dogg commentated on the Mike Tyson-Roy Jones Jr. fight recently and was the best part of it. Now, he’s going to do it some more. He announced after a successful announcer stint he was starting his own boxing league. The new league will be a partnership with Triller and is to be called The Fight Club.
First rule of Fight Club is Snoop commentates Fight Club. He will be the host of the five to eight events they plan to hold a year.
Snoop Dogg Is Ahead Of The Game
Snoop Dogg and his Fight Club are already underway according to Yahoo Sports. The Tyson and Jones fight was the first ever hosted by the league. The fight also featured a musical performance by Snoop Dogg. The co-main event was YouTube star Jake Paul knocking out NBA player Nate Robinson. The events will be the same featuring a co-main event with celebrities and a musical performance along with the fight.
Fans who watched the fight thought Snoop’s boxing commentary was the best part. Snoop said at one point during the main event that Tyson and Jones were like, “two of my uncles fighting at the barbecue.”
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said, “are y’all listening to my man @SnoopDogg call this fight. I don’t know about the rest of y’all, but I’m loving this. Snoop’s the most entertaining part of this fight. He’s doing fantastic.” Coming from someone who talks bad about everyone, that’s a huge compliment.
They Have Big Things Planned For The Fight Club
Snoop Dogg and Triller have big things planned for the league. The co-owner of Triller, Ryan Kavanaugh, teased how big a fight they were closing in on. He said, “I can tell you that the main fight — I can’t say it yet — but it’s gonna be something that everybody wants to see. If you thought [Tyson vs. Jones Jr.] is big, I think that this would be even larger from a worldwide-appetite perspective and something that people want to see.”
Kavanaugh also said, “we’re going to bring back the days of when the entire family watched boxing. There will be different tastes for everyone.” Triller is a Tik Tok rival that plans to purchase a couple more platforms to reach more of an audience.
According to the LA Times, Fight Club will also feature celebrities who want to try their hand at boxing. Snoop Dogg released a statement. He said, “we are changing the entire game. Boxing will never be the same and the audiences expect a new standard now. Fight Club is that standard.”
He Hopes To Succeed Where Others Have Failed
Snoop hopes to thrive where other hip-hop artists have failed. Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports closed this year and 50 Cent’s SMS Promotions went bankrupt five years ago. Snoop is optimistic. He says the boxing gig was top five in moments of his career.
