Taylor Swift fans think she popped the question to Joe Alwyn. This comes just days after she shared the re-recording of her “Love Story” single. Fans have been wondering whether the Folklore singer is ready to marry her British boyfriend. They know that the two have been in a long and successful private relationship.
Joe and Taylor managed to keep their relationship out of the private eye. Although, she does have songs about him on her albums, Reputation and Lover. Otherwise, they don’t often speak of each other. But even their fans don’t know much about their relationship.
Why Taylor Swift fans think she’s engaged
On Wednesday, December 2, a reupdated version of “Love Story” played during Ryan Reynolds’ new Match.com ad. Taylor Swift recalled their funny conversation on social media. Of course, her fans were excited to hear the newly updated version of her 2008 hit. But some noticed that one of the lyrics changed from “Baby, just say, ‘Yes'” to “Baby, just said, ‘Yes.'” This slight modification led fans to wonder if the 30-year-old is engaged to the 29-year-old Favourite star.
“Why aren’t we talking about the fact that Taylor said ‘it’s a love story baby just SAID yes,'” one fan wrote. “I just saw a tiktok and I didn’t even notice until the girl pointed it out.”
“OMG [the] original lyrics are baby just say yes, is our queen trying to tell us something?”
A third fan feels that Taylor released “Love Story” to coyly announced that “she’s engaged to Joe.” The fan added that it “would be [a] chef’s kiss” if it was true, but that they “literally have no evidence supporting this idea.” Of course, no one knows except Taylor and Joe themselves. Another fan said they would “scream” if the engagement rumors turned out true because “it’s what Taylor deserves.”
She keeps her relationship with Joe Alwyn private
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have dated since 2017. Both stars have managed to keep their relationship private. The “Cardigan” singer recently spoke out about Joe in an interview with Paul McCartney for Rolling Stone last month. She said that keeping it private made her “life feel more like a real life” instead of a narrative that she would try to control.
And after a difficult year, Taylor is glad to have Joe in her life. An insider told ETOnline that her boyfriend of four has been a “great support system” as she deals with the coronavirus pandemic and her mom’s cancer battle. Taylor first opened up about her mom Andrea’s cancer diagnosis in 2015. However, her cancer returned in 2019, and the singer revealed in a January 2020 interview with Variety that her mom’s doctors found a brain tumor.
The source told ET that Taylor can rely on the support of her family and Joe, as they deal with Andrea’s health battle.

“[Taylor] has been having a tough time with her mom’s health, but her mom is getting treatment and she and her family have been trying to stay optimistic,” the source said. “She has been focusing on her music and spending a lot of time with Joe. Taylor wanted to take some time to herself and her family this year, so in that regard, the quarantine and break has been positive for her.”
The source added that Joe has been “her cheerleader and rock.” The couple has discussed their future together and do plan to celebrate the holidays together. Taylor recently revealed that he contributed to her Folklore album. During her Disney+ concert film, folklore: the long pond studio sessions, she confirmed that William Bowery, the mystery co-writer on “Betty and “Exile” is actually a pseudonym for her boyfriend.
