Finally, Melania Trump got into the Christmas spirit. The First Lady unveiled the finalized White House Christmas décor theme. It’ll be the last one before her husband leaves office in January 2021. She revealed that “America the Beautiful” is the theme for this year’s decorations.

The Slovenian wanted to pay tribute to “this land we are all proud to call home.” Of course, Twitter shared their thoughts. Some of them called out the theming, while others slammed the décor itself. On Monday, November 30, Melania thanked the volunteers who helped her pull off the theme to bring “the spirit of peace and joy fill the historic rooms and halls of the People’s House.”

Donald Trump’s wife took to Twitter to share four photos of the finalized décor. In the caption, she wrote: “‘America the Beautiful’ #Christmas at the @WhiteHouse.” The first photo featured Melania in the center of a hall decorated with many decorative Christmas trees. They were adorned with pinecones, red plaid bows, white lights, and red ornaments.

In the next photo, Melania looked at a table garnished with green leaves and tall golden candles. A train also made its way around the table. The third photo showed a close-up of a green Christmas tree decorated with gold bows, white flowers, and matching ornaments. In the fourth photo, Melania walked down another passageway that had more greenery.

What’s the inspiration behind the theme?

“During this special time of the year, I am delighted to share ‘America the Beautiful’ and pay tribute to the majesty of our great Nation,” Melania Trump wrote in her Instagram post. “Together, we celebrate this land we are all proud to call home.”

Melania also shared a press release about the holiday décor. In the statement, she revealed her inspiration for this year’s theme. She shared that she “had the honor to travel to some of our nation’s most beautiful landmarks and meet some of the most compassionate and patriotic American citizens.” Some of the states she traveled to, including “the bond that all America’s share is an appreciation for our traditions, values, and history, which were the inspiration behind the decorations this year.”

In the release, Melania wished everyone “a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.” As she celebrates the holiday season, President Trump refuses to concede the November 3 election to President-elect Joe Biden. He claims he won, without evidence, and alleges fraud. An insider told People that Melania was “looking forward to once again opening the People’s House for Christmas” and has been working on the Christmas decorations since June 2020.

Twitter reacts

Shortly after Melania Trump shared the tweet, it received over 121,000 likes and over 16,000 retweets. However, not everyone was crazy about the decorations or theme. They found the theme “ironic” considering the Trump administration keeps immigrant children and families captive at the Mexican border. Others had jokes for the First Lady.

“This should distract people while you pack up the White House flatware and start listing it on eBay,” one fan wrote.

“Christmas is typically thought of as a time for family but every Christmas we are treated with photos of Melania Trump, walking alone beside her choice of WH Christmas decorations. Interesting.”
