Finally, something to look forward to! Sports fans around the country can celebrate knowing that the 2021 Super Bowl will go on. In fact, the NFL just announced who will be performing at halftime.

Despite COVID, NFL Season Began on Schedule

When the coronavirus pandemic struck in March 2020, it threw everything up in the air. No one knew for sure if the NFL season would be able to start on time, or what that would look like. The season typically starts in September, with training camps in August. News reports came almost weekly of another NFL player testing positive for COVID while in training.

But the players and NFL rallied. The season kicked off on September 10, and has been going strong since. The games may look a little different, with cutouts instead of people, or reduced crowds. But there are a handful of teams left with a real chance of making it to Super Bowl 55.

Act Announced for Super Bowl LV Halftime Show in Early ‘21

With everyone focused on the coronavirus pandemic and election, the upcoming Super Bowl hasn’t been in the news cycle. So, it was something of a surprise when the NFL announced that they have booked a musical act for the much-beloved Halftime Show.

The NFL’s official Instagram made the announcement on Thursday, November 12. Hip hop artist The Weeknd will perform during halftime. Per E! Online, the singer took to his own Instagram account to express his gratitude for the opportunity. He shared a photo with the news. In the caption, he wrote, “Performing on the iconic stage. see you 02/07/21.”

Of course, several followers could not resist leaving an “I Can’t Feel My Face” joke in the comments. Neither The Weeknd or the NFL has announced any other acts joining him on-stage. Fans will have to wait for more details to come out about the Halftime Show.

What Do We Know About Super Bowl LV?

While we don’t know yet which teams will be there, we DO know where it will be. Super Bowl LV will be at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida. As The Weeknd wrote on social media, it will be on Sunday, February 7, 2021.

Florida is one of the few states without many – or any – restrictions when it comes to the coronavirus. As of right now, the NFL plans a full stadium of fans for Super Bowl LV.
