Big Ed gave pig farming a shot on 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days to win over Rose’s father so he could ask him a very important question while in that pigpen.
This scene is rather sad, not just because they’re standing in a pigpen. But because fans learn Big Ed’s potential future father-in-law lives in the shack that sits in the middle of this mud and squalor.
90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days – Big Ed Calls It a Vacation
This 90 Day Fiance scene is revealing on so many different levels. You can’t help but like Rose’s father. He appears to be a gentle and kind man who loves his daughter. While Rose is 23, she has a very young-sounding voice. She also still looks like a teen, especially when compared to Big Ed, who is 54.
Rose takes Big Ed to show him her father’s pride and joy, the pigs he raises. Big Ed intends to pop a question to the dad but it’s not the question he should be asking him. He wants to take Rose away to a hotel for a few days. He’s not ready to ask for her hand in marriage yet.
Ed wants to try things out with Rose before taking her on as a wife. So he needs some time alone with her to do that. But instead of calling it what it is, he presents it as a “vacation”.
Rose’s dad seemed to size Ed up while this 90 Day Fiance celebrity slipped and slid through the pigpen mud. Rose explains to her 90 Day Fiance partner that her dad is very protective of her. But when Ed asks to take his daughter away on vacation, there’s a pause of silence but he does agree.
Rose’s Dad Shows Kindness
The dad lays out some rules, which are pretty basic. He wants Big Ed to take care of his daughter and be kind to her. Despite the different cultures between Big Ed and Rose’s dad, this has to be hard for this father.
For one thing, this reality show visitor is a year older than Rose’s dad. Big Ed wants to get a hotel room but he asks Rose to tell her father that he wants to take her on a vacation.

90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days – Big Ed And His Agenda
So far this season Ed made several requests to Rose that raised eyebrows. Like wanting her to get an STD test and requesting she shave her legs. Ed takes charge of where they go next during this 90 Day Fiance couple’s time together.
When he strongly suggests she take a bath and asks her to shave her legs, viewers didn’t like this. Some online comments suggest this has a feeling of Ed grooming Rose and it disgusted more than a handful of the show’s fans.
So popping the question in that pigpen to Rose’s father puts another mark on Big Ed’s scorecard. He might call it a vacation but fans see things differently. It seems Ed popped the wrong question as far as some fans are concerned. But ironically he was standing in a pigpen when he did so.
