Am I Wrong For Watching A Movie Without My Wife?

Catching up on the latest TV show without your spouse is a huge no-no. But one person wanted to know if they were wrong for watching a movie without their wife. Keep reading to find out what happened and judge who was wrong and who was right.
Binge-Watching TV Can Save Your Relationship
“Netflix and Chill” is more than just an excuse for a casual hookup or intimate time with your spouse. Binge watching a show with someone else is actually a huge bonding activity, whether you’re watching addictive reality shows like Bringing Up Bates or the latest episode of Hulu’s Only Murders In the Building.
Data estimates that up to 70% of Americans binge-watch some type of TV show. There isn’t specific data for how many of those people are married couples watching together. But the numbers are likely significant.
Many of us grew up hearing that TV rots our brains. But according to experts, binge-watching TV together can actually improve marriages. It gives couples a chance to bond over something less stressful than financial concerns and avoid disruptions from kids.

But sometimes it’s not always possible to wait for a spouse to have time to watch something. One man wanted to know if he was wrong for watching a movie without his wife.
Am I Wrong For Watching A Movie Without My Wife?
How many times have you seen a spouse joking on the internet about getting in trouble for binge-watching a TV show without their spouse? It turns out movies can be a big issue, too.
One man took to social media site Reddit to get opinions on a recent situation at home. He wrote that a regular Friday night activity is a family movie night with his wife and two kids, age 4 and 6. He chose Madagascar for a recent movie night.
According to dad, he got the kids settled on the couch ready to watch the movie. But instead of sitting down, mom decided it was time for her to vacuum. It took about 20 minutes. After she was done and walking toward the couch, dad pressed play on the movie, which set his wife off.
He asked in the “Am I The A**hole” subreddit if he was wrong to start the movie before his wife was literally sitting on the couch.
What The Internet Says
Usually most of the internet would agree it’s wrong to binge-watch an episode of a TV show without your spouse. But do the same rules apply for movies? Opinions were divided but most took the husband’s side.
- “Yeah, this is definitely not about the movie. Depending on the actual reason she’s mad, maybe Yta. Also, this shows a lack of communication skills on her part.”
- “NTA but also you have two young boys and she might be overstimulated / overwhelmed / burned out, especially if she’s holding down most of the parenting hours/tasks. Which means every little thing feels like a BIG thing.”
- “Sounds like she just wants a reason to be mad at you.”
- “Nta. It’s a kids movie, mostly for the kids, who waited not patiently for 20 minutes because they are small children”
- “Whatever else is going on, the bottom line is that making little kids wait to start movie night while you are doing chores is daft!”
