Call him President Mr. Clean? A new report reveals that President-Elect Biden has some unconventional plans for when he moves into the White House.
Very few public officials have been as careful as Joe Biden when it comes to the coronavirus. As the pandemic raged, he chose to stay safe at home instead of campaigning across the country. Biden has done whatever he can to protect himself from contracting the coronavirus.
Therefore, he is reportedly going to take some drastic measures to ensure the White House is clean before he moves in on January 20, 2021.
Trump and Several Staffers Had COVID
While Biden was safe at home, the outgoing President was holding large in-person rallies and events. The so-called superspreaders resumed in June with a rally in Oklahoma. Former Presidential candidate Herman Cain attended the rally, passing away a month later from COVID. It’s not proven that Cain contracted the virus at the rally, but it’s a common belief that he did.
In the first week of October, President Trump revealed that he had tested positive for COVID. He recovered quickly, but several of his other staffers and close allies also tested positive in the days before and after.
More recently, Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, tested positive for coronavirus.
Additionally, the White House is staying with tradition and holding Christmas parties this month, where masks are not required.
So, it’s no surprise that Biden is nervous about moving into the White House amid so many positive cases. However, he has a plan to clean the White House of all traces of the virus.
Biden Plans to Sanitize the White House After Trump Leaves
Politico reports that Biden’s team plans to sanitize the White House before the newly-elected President moves in. This is because the virus can potentially remain on surfaces for several days.
The outlet reports that the East and West Wings will be thoroughly cleaned between the time Trump leaves and Biden moves in. That means “furniture, doorknobs, handrails and light switches” will all be disinfected.
Furthermore, the coronavirus can also stay in the air for a period of time. In order to sanitize the air, “disinfectant misting services” will be employed to literally clear the air.
Late Night Host James Corden Has Field Day With Sanitation Story
Biden’s plan practically writes the jokes itself. It’s no surprise that late night hosts had a grand time with the story. CBS’ The Late Late Show With James Corden joked that Biden would have disinfected the White House regardless of the coronavirus. Rim shot!
