Megan Thee Stallion is having a year for the record books. The 2020 American Music Awards were a big night for the rapper.
Megan Thee Stallion and her night at the AMAs
Excitingly, E! dishes all the details on a great night for Megan Thee Stallion. For the first time, Megan performs “Body” live. Notably, E! describes the artist’s debut performance as “a powerful one.” Anticipation for the performance rises, as a pre-recorded monologue accompanies a video of Megan.
The message of this video is clear. Megan Thee Stallion seemingly wants to share body positivity with her fans. “I love my body. Every curve, every inch. Every mark. Every dimple.” If that message isn’t strong enough, she says, “It’s decoration on my temple.”
The way E! describes the monologue speaks highly of Megan Thee Stallion’s pre-performance entertainment. “Yep, we definitely had chills- and Meg hadn’t even hit the stage yet,” writes the source. However, when Megan does hit the stage, she slays! Her outfit of choice is a blingy mesh jumpsuit complete with matching bra and underwear combo. Definitely, proving that she radiates body confidence.
What happens post-performance?
In summary, the performance is phenomenal. And, Megan Thee Stallion’s signature dance moves keep the crowd engaged. Furthermore, her night doesn’t end there. Megan gets several AMA nominations. These nominations include New Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Favorite Female Artist – Rap/Hip-Hop, and Favorite Song – Rap/Hip-Hop. Of note, the nomination for Collaboration of the Year includes “WAP” with Cardi B and “Savage” with Beyonce.
Ultimately, Megan Thee Stallion takes home the AMA for Favorite Song- Rap/Hip-Hop for “WAP” just moments after her moving performance of “Body.” Heartwarmingly, her acceptance speech is short and sweet. The rapper thanks everyone on behalf of her and Cardi, but also, God, her mama for watching over her, and her grandma.
#bodyodychallenge on TikTok
In other Megan Thee Stallion news, a dance accompanying “Body” is already trending on TikTok. Which isn’t a surprise given how choreography heavy the music video is. Becoming a viral sensation on TikTok seems to be the trend for Megan. She takes to Twitter with the music video and challenges her fans to “learn it faster than [she] did.”

And, according to BuzzFeed, the #bodyodychallenge blows up in record time. Astoundingly, they claim “basically 0.03,” and while that may be hyperbole, it doesn’t seem that far from the truth. It seems that fans are quick to participate. This may be in part since Megan Thee Stallion regularly showcases her fans’ efforts on social media.
So, it goes without saying it seems 2020 is a good year for Megan Thee Stallion. Fans of the up and coming superstar are excited to see what the new year has in store for her.
