Amazon, Reddit, & More Down Due To Outage, Details
Amazon, Reddit, and many more prominent apps have stolen the hearts and time from consumers. When they go down, questions immediately flood in wondering what is the cause of the crash. Recently, many stopped working in tandem, but what happened and has it been fixed? Keep reading for more details.
Amazon, Reddit, & More Crash On Users
Scrolling on various apps has become a very popular pasttime and can often be relaxing. Amazon just had its infamous Prime Day and users can have items they love and need within hours. It’s quick, easy and efficient, but there are so many more apps that people have fallen in love with. Reddit has answers and chat forums for everything while Ring is one of the best home video systems. Venmo allows people to send and transfer money without having to go to a bank and Snapchat is a popular way to text. Unfortunately, in the wee hours of October 20th, 2025, they all crashed simultaneously.

Anyone who tried to send or transfer money on Venmo was met with an error message. Along with that, various loan companies claimed that they were under maintenance but that was not the case. Trying to snatch something from Amazon quickly? Another error but it all makes sense as there was an Amazon Web Services outage. This caused services and apps to stop working, and send users into a panic. Some affected, aside from those previously listed, were:
-
Hulu
-
McDonald’s
-
Coinbase
-
Roblox
-
Zoom
-
Lloyd’s Bank
-
Bank of Scotland
-
Signal
-
Gov.uk

-

Some users thought it was just them, so they rushed to Twitter/X for answers. That was when they learned that this was an outage affecting millions and they were not alone. Since it happened in the middle of the night, it may have looked like a maintenance situation but it was not.
Has It Been Fixed?
Seattle, Washington-based Amazon is still struggling. Users cannot search for items, and PayPal seems to be affected, as well. Globally, eight million reports came in concerning this incident and followers are not happy:
- This Amazon web services outage is the reason why we can’t let monopolies/centralized dependency happen. Why are all my websites and apps down because of Amazon
- Kindle is down and I just finished a book, it ended on a cliffhanger and now I can’t DOWNLOAD THE SEQUEL. I’M LOST RIGHT NOW
It was not a problem for Twitter as they are headqaurters for crisis. Anytime something goes wrong, they get a crazy amount of inquiries and traffic.
