Jill Duggar Dillard

When it comes to the Duggars and their background, it’s a lifestyle that certainly divides people. Jill Duggar Dillard recently spoke out against the ideology that her family holds, and she had plenty of things to say about it. So, what did she reveal?

The Duggar Family Grew Up Under Strict Rules

For any viewers who have been following 19 Kids And Counting, Counting On, or any of the Duggar vlogs and podcasts around today, they know that the Duggar family grew up under very strict conditions. The Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) influence was strong on the Duggar children, as it fundamentally influenced their upbringing.

Some of these strict rules included following a strict dress code, abstaining from alcohol, and more. As the Duggar children have grown into adults, many of them have steered away from some of these strict guidelines. However, other people who still follow these principles continue to be guided by them, for better and worse, in some cases.

Jill Duggar Dillard Speaks Out Against Family ‘Cult’

One member of the Duggar family who has not been afraid to speak out is Jill Duggar Dillard. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Jill even called the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) a “form of a cult.” While this is exactly what many viewers have said for years, it’s saying something when these words are coming from someone like Jill Duggar.

Jill recently said, “I really do think that IBLP is a form of a cult. I think that even if you remove the person in leadership, a lot of those same values and principles are still being taught, so it doesn’t fix the problem. I think that’s what some people think like, ‘Oh, we’ve removed Bill Gothard from the situation. It makes everything better.’ No, it changes and maybe adds a nice storefront to the picture, but it doesn’t change the overall principles that are still being taught and held to.”

Even Jill’s husband, Derick Dillard, agrees, and they are both promoting their new memoir, called Counting The Cost. Derick added, “I’ll call it what I think it is, a cult. A lot of verses in the Bible are taken out of context and manipulated for people who are not desiring to follow Jesus but wanting to control and manipulate and see this as an opportunity. The organization has attracted people who have that goal and see the ability to use it for that.”
