Trans Athlete Files Lawsuit Against Princeton, ‘Emotional & Physical’ Harm

Trans Athlete Files Lawsuit Against Princeton
Being a university athlete can come with a lot of stress. Some are on scholarship, so they will do whatever they have to in order to keep it. Others just want to keep growing with the sport and will not back down. Unfortunately, one transgender athlete did not have a great experience, and it has led them to file a lawsuit against Princeton University. Sadie Schreiner is a sprinter and has received numerous accolades from Rochester Institute of Technology. Therefore, she is no stranger to track and field; it is a passion, but in May 2025, she was not allowed to participate.
Allegedly, Sadie was getting ready to compete in the Larry Ellis International. That was when she discovered her name was not on the list, and she was taken aback. Someone from the university apparently approached Sarah and asked if she was transgender. They claimed that they did not want to “assume” she was, so they chose to ask instead. She has stated that the two officials who were involved displayed “blatant and willful disregard of Sadie’s rights based on Sadie’s rights as a transgender woman under controlling New Jersey law.”

Additionally, Sadie has alleged this has caused the athlete “foreseeable emotional and physical harm.” As of now, the idea is that Princeton University violated the NJ Law Against Discrimination. This covers people of different gender identities, allowing them to express themselves. However, in early 2025, the president signed an order to prevent men from participating in women’s sports. Therefore, those who stopped Sadie could claim they were upholding this order, regardless of whether it was right or wrong. The NCAA went on to follow suit, and Sadie could sense her time was up.
The End Of An Era
Sadie Schreiner was a well-respected athlete, and she competed and won numerous times. Unfortunately, she knows that her time is over when it comes to certain competitions. The hope is that she will get her justice for being treated unfairly, but it is impossible to know what will happen next. Sadie has been very vocal on her social media prior to the Princeton incident. She has shown how proud she is of herself and the life that she leads. Of course, not everyone has been supportive of her journey. Regardless, Sadie is fighting, and that is all she can do at this point.
