There have been many pregnancies in the Bates family today. Lydia also welcomed her second child with Trace last month. Meanwhile, Michaela and Brandon finally became parents after fostering two kids. But amid all the celebrations, Papa Bill also passed away this year.
Last May, Kelly Jo shared a lengthy message, expressing how heartbroken she was when she learned about her father-in-law’s passing. It was revealed that Papa Bill died peacefully while in hospice care. The Bringing Up Bates star recalled some of the best moments she had with Papa Bill as well as the impact he brought to the family. But it seems the emotions are not done for Kelly Jo as she recalls another sad day.
Kelly Jo Relives Saddest Day Of Her Life
Kelly Jo Bates recently took to IG to share an emotional story about her father, who passed away in 2003. According to the Bringing Up Bates star, she remembers the day they drove home from the hospital with tears after saying goodbye to her dad. Kelly Jo also revealed that a rainbow appeared in the sky as they pulled into the driveway, making her believe that God was with them during one of the hardest times in their lives. She added, “I’m reminded once more that He is always by my side! I’ll never stop missing my dad, but God shows me time and time again how blessed I am!”
Kelly Jo also said that her father is her biggest role model in life, adding she will forever be grateful for all the years they shared together. Many fans supported Kelly Jo, saying that her father’s personality will continue to live on with her.

Bringing Up Bates: Kelly Jo Bates Thriving As A Grandmother
Despite being busy welcoming newborn grandkids, Kelly Jo Bates recently shared that she still gives time and effort to her older grandchildren. One of them was Zach’s daughter, Kaci, whom she spent one-on-one time with. According to the Bringing Up Bates star, Kaci asked her several times last week if they could spend time together, and she’s excited to finally have the time with her. Kelly Jo brought Kaci out to an aquarium, indoor putt-putt, and the Parrot Mountain store. Many fans were also impressed by Kelly Jo’s energy to hang out with her granddaughter after all the travels she had over the past few days.
