Everyone decorates their space in a way that makes them happy and aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, some items may make guests want to exit as soon as they walk in the door. The first one is not having any spots to sit and relax. This can make for an awkward exchange and time spent if there is no room set up for anyone to chat and chill. Plus, visitors may have a beverage or a snack, and need a place to set those down. Next up is clutter. That is fine for your daily life, but visitors don’t want to feel like they are stuck in your junk.
Just be mindful to pick up a tad so they feel like they are welcome and wanted. Circling back to the first one, always offer someone a drink or a snack. People may come by expecting to be fed or at least hydrated, and if that is not an option, they will want to go home. If you have a pet, that is great, but if it is a special occasion, just clean the hair up a bit. Plus, some have allergies, so if there is too much fur, that can be an immediate deterrent.
Temperature matters to guests. They do not want to be too hot or too cold, and if they come in knowing they will freeze or sweat bullets, they may not come at all. Finally, the last issue that could make someone leave a visit is if the host is smoking indoors, or allows it. The smell is not appealing to everyone, and they may not want to go home stinking of smoke.
