U.S. States Where Marijuana Is Fully Legal
Marijuana is a drug many have wanted legalized, and it has come a long way with that. So, what states in America do not have a problem with weed, and have made it legal? More so, is it more than you would think? Keep reading for more details.
States Where Marijuana Is Fully Legal
Marijuana has long been used for relaxation purposes, to dissociate, and even for illnesses. It has been known to be beneficial for chemotherapy patients to help them feel better after treatments. Plus, it can ease anxiety and stress, as well as pain management. Unfortunately, many can abuse cannabis, causing major issues, including arrests. After many years of fighting, where has weed been fully legalized, and which states are participants? As of now, 40 states plus D.C. allow it for medicinal purposes, while recreational use has been approved in D.C. and 24 states.

The first state to legalize weed for medicinal purposes was California. That happened in 1996, and rec use was legalized twenty years later. Along with California, here are the states where marijuana is 100% legal, regardless of whether it’s recreational or medicinal:
- Alaska
- Nevada
- Oregon
- Washington
- Maine
- Colorado
- Montana
- Vermont
- Rhode Island
- New Mexico
- Michigan
- Arizona
- New Jersey
- Delaware
- Connecticut
- Massachusetts
- Illinois
- Maryland
- Minnesota
- New York
- Ohio
- Missouri
- Virginia
As aforementioned, it is fully legal in the District of Columbia, but there are still seventeen states where it is solely approved for medicinal purposes. However, several states do not have any legalization, even for those who need it for migraines, chronic pain, anxiety, and chemo assistance.

Of course, people will still use marijuana regardless of its legality. Idaho, Indiana, Kansas as well as Tennessee are among the places where no one can legally use the drug. Yet, this does not include CBD oil usage, which is very prominent and popular. Moreover, this oil can be obtained without a prescription and purchased online. One of the biggest reasons why many states want to make it legal is financial.
The Big Benefits
Aside from health benefits, marijuana has financial ones for states, as well. They can tax the purchases as high as desired to keep the income flow coming in. More so, it can help alleviate overcrowding in prisons when weed is no longer taboo. However, not everyone sees the big picture, which can be sad for those who really need the drug to get by.
Are you shocked at how many states do not have marijuana fully legalized? Finally, do you believe it should be legal everywhere, or do you think there should be some discrepancies? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
