Her dad, Gil, celebrated his 60th birthday, which is a big deal in the family. However, some family members weren’t able to attend Gil’s birthday. Bringing Up Bates: Kelly Jo Bates & Family End Year With Multiple Celebrations
Kelly Jo recently took to social media to share their trip to South Carolina to visit Mama Jane and Papa Bill for Christmas. Many of their kids visited their grandparents. The Bringing Up Bates star also shared photos of Gil seemingly leading a small mass for his parents. It also appears Mama Jane and Papa Gil are getting better after all the health issues they’ve been through this year, especially Papa Bill, who suffered from symptoms of dementia several months ago.
Aside from Mama Jane and Papa Bill, Kelly Jo also shared photos from the birthday celebration of her son, Zach. She expressed how proud she was of her son, adding that his siblings often called him the “golden child.” But what caught the attention of many was the kids’ absence, especially Josie and her family, who are known for their consistent participation in such gatherings.
Josie Shares Updates On Family’s Illness
Some Bringing Up Bates fans on Reddit react to Josie Bates Balka’s recent IG Stories featuring updates about her family’s health. They couldn’t attend Gil’s 60th birthday due to their illness. Josie then revealed they were leaving the house for the first time to go see a pediatrician as the girls were having fevers again. They were also told to bring the kids by their doctor, who suspects they may have a secondary infection or ear infection. Many commenters feel bad about the unfortunate holidays for Josie and her family.

According to the Bringing Up Bates star, Josie and her family had the flu, while Jackson had work. She also revealed that Alyssa’s family was already making a long trip to DC in January. She added, “So that would have been a lot of traveling hours for little ones. We missed them all!” However, some fans were not having Alyssa’s excuse to skip her father’s birthday.
