Friend weighs in on Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie’s relationship

People were able to speak with a few friends who knew Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie. The two reportedly went to high school together in Long Island, New York. One friend of Laundrie’s, Ben Matula, said things weren’t as peachy as they appeared on the surface. According to reports, Gabby and Brian’s relationship was great on the surface and the two appeared perfectly matched. However, Matula said there was tons of tension between the two.

Ben Matula said, “One minute, they’d be all over each other, the next minute, he’d be like, ‘We’re fighting.'” He went on to say, “They always had some drama.”

Matula also said that there was always something not 100% right between Gabby and Brian. He also said the guy that Brian is being made out to be is not who he knew in high school. Matula admits it seems as if Brian has handled things poorly and wasn’t on the “up and up.”

He also said like so many others that he believed Gabby and Brian were just seeing the world together. He said, “It seemed like they were seeing the world with the person they loved. They were living the dream that all of us want to do. But they were doing it. All their friends were either still in college or searching for entry level jobs, and they’re out there killing it. I was jealous, and I know I’m not the only one. I was happy for them.”
