The Los Angeles Lakers are trying to push even further as the second half of the NBA season arrives. Apparently, fans started to doubt the Lakers’ chances of winning a back-to-back championship. At this point, the Brooklyn Nets are currently the favorites of winning this year’s championship. The Nets also did a shocking move after signing Blake Griffin, giving the team an insane star-studded lineup. However, reports claim that the Lakers are also trying to pursue a veteran player to match with the Nets.
NBA: Lakers Are Still Pursuing P.J. Tucker
According to reports, the Los Angeles Lakers are still trying to obtain P.J. Tucker from the Houston Rockets. Apparently, the Rockets are eyeing a rebuild after the departure of James Harden. It is believed that Tucker will be traded throughout the process of the rebuild. Furthermore, Tucker doesn’t show any interest in playing with the Rockets anymore, which gives the Lakers a higher chance of obtaining him. With only a few days before the trade deadline, fans are hoping that the Lakers will sign the veteran center to counter the Brooklyn Nets’ star-studded lineup.
At this point, the Lakers have yet to reveal their offer to the Rockets for Tucker. However, NBA analysts believe that Jared Dudley will most likely be included in their offers. There are also speculations that the Lakers might also offer their second-round pick for Tucker as they already have a well-established roster.
Anthony Davis Might Miss 3 More Weeks
Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis previously made headlines after suffering from leg injuries, which caused him to miss 2 weeks. However, a source close to the team revealed that Davis will need another 3 weeks or more to make sure he’s healthy. This worries a lot of fans as NBA teams are already preparing for the playoffs. However, reports also claim that the team was just trying to make sure Davis can play at a high level during the playoffs. Fortunately, players in the Lakers are stepping up during the absence of Davis. Montrezl Harrell and Kyle Kuzma have been a huge factor for the Lakers recently. The Lakers are also doing a good job of keeping LeBron James healthy despite having to carry the team over the past few games.
