The second half of the NBA season has finally started and teams are stepping it up to take a spot in the playoffs. The Brooklyn Nets are one of the teams to play on the opening night of the second half of the season and they did not disappoint. Apparently, Nets’ point guard Kyrie Irving exploded in their return after the All-Star break. Fans are also excited to see Nets’ newly acquired superstar, Blake Griffin, sitting on the team’s bench. Meanwhile, the Nets have become the new favorites of winning the NBA title.
NBA: Kyrie Dominates In Nets’ Return Against Celtics
Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving dominated in their game against the Boston Celtics. However, the Nets struggled during the first half where they trail by 11 during the first quarter. However, Kyrie and the Nets went on fire in the second half. The Celtics struggled to find ways to defend Kyrie’s offense.
James Harden also added to their problem, which eventually leads to their loss. Kyrie scored 40 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists in 34 minutes of playing. Meanwhile, Harden scored 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists. The Nets defeated the Celtics with a score of 121-109.
Griffin Getting Ready For His Nets Debut
During the Brooklyn Nets game against the Boston Celtics, Blake Griffin was seen sitting on the Nets bench. He appears to be getting ready for his debut with the Nets as he watches how his team plays. Apparently, the Brooklyn Nets acquired Blake Griffin after he was bought out by the Detroit Pistons.
Griffin also opened up about why he joined the Nets instead of the defending champions, the Los Angeles Lakers. According to Griffin, he feels like the Nets are more competitive and he also wanted to win a ring. He also admits that his former teammate DeAndre Jordan played a huge role in why he joined the Nets.
NBA: Nets Are Now Heavily Favored To Win This Year’s NBA Championship
Earlier in the season, fans predicted that the Los Angeles Lakers will go for a back-to-back championship. However, teams started making huge adjustments to match with the defending champions. One of which is the Brooklyn Nets, which are now the heavily favored team to win this year’s championship. Apparently, the Nets are currently led by the trio of Kyrie Irving, James Harden, and Kevin Durant.
The arrival of Blake Griffin also added to what has been a star-studded team. Now, fans think that the Lakers will have major problems once they faced the Nets in the playoffs. Many players in the Nets are hungry for a championship especially Durant. Apparently, Durant has been wanting his revenge championship after his unfortunate injury during the 2019 NBA Finals.
The Brooklyn Nets will face the Detroit Pistons on March 14, 2021.
