God of War Ragnarok is one of the most highly anticipated games coming in 2021. The game was announced by Sony in a short teaser trailer. However, the trailer only shows the logo of the game, and no characters were revealed. It was previously revealed that God of War Ragnarok will be released on PlayStation 5. Sony has yet to reveal if the game will also be available on PlayStation 4. However, God of War former director David Jaffe revealed that the game will be released on PS4.
God of War Ragnarok Will Be Available In Both PS4 & PS5 According To Former Director
In a social media post, God of War former director David Jaffe revealed that God of War Ragnarok will also be available in PS5. According to Jaffe, “I’m sure the next God of War will be on PS4, PS5. Of course, it will be.” However, Jaffe hasn’t been involved with the franchise since 2007. While Sony remains silent, many believed that game will also be on PS4. Apparently, PS4 is still receiving new titles despite its age. Horizon Forbidden West is also announced to be released on both PS4 and PS5. Cyberpunk 2077 was once playable in PS4 as well. However, Sony had to pull out the game in the PlayStation Store due to its poor optimizations.
God of War Ragnarok’s Plot
At this point, Sony has yet to reveal the plot for God of War Ragnarok. However, those who played God of War 4 already knows what will happen next. During God of War 4, Kratos and his son Atreus learned about the Ragnarok prophecy, where the final battle between the gods and forces of evil takes place. The event was also described as a global apocalypse, where the entire world will be submerged underwater. During the end scenes of God of War 4, Kratos and Atreus woke up in a huge storm.
When Kratos walked outside, he saw a mysterious man carrying a hammer filled with lightning energy. The mysterious man never spoke but most fans believe that it’s no other than Thor. There are speculations stating that Kratos will face Thor and his father Odin in God of War Ragnarok, which could ultimately lead to his death. Apparently, Kratos has been showing signs of weakness due to his age. He’s no longer regenerating his wounds that fast compared to his younger days. Aside from that, Kratos also saw a mural of him during the game, explaining how he died and Atreus was actually Loki.
PC Version Could Be Coming
The God of War franchise has been a PlayStation exclusive throughout the years. Due to this, a lot of fans are forced to buy new consoles just to play the game. However, Sony did a shocking move last year as they suddenly released Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, which is supposed to be a PlayStation exclusive. Detroit: Become Human was once a PlayStation exclusive as well. It was released back in 2018. However, Sony decided to port it to PlayStation 4 in December 2019. Due to this, fans speculated that God of War Ragnarok might become available on PC as well.
God of War Ragnarok is set to be released this year.
