The Tate-LaBianca murders dominated headlines in the summer of 1969. More than 50 years later, anything related to Charles Manson or the Manson Family still makes headlines. Even if it’s only marginally related. In the summer of 2020, a relative of the LaBianca’s died after a brutal stabbing.
What do we know about the case?
Manson Family Murder Victim’s Granddaughter Stabbed to Death in Denver
A homicide in Denver that happened in July is just getting mainstream media attention. The victim was the granddaughter of Rosemary LaBianca, one of the victims of the “Manson Family murders.”
Rosemary LaBianca had two children from a previous relationship when she married Leno LaBianca. Her children, Suzan and Frank Struthers, were the ones who found the bodies of Rosemary and their stepfather. Suzan was just 21-years-old at the time of the murders.
Despite the trauma, which resulted in a mental breakdown, she went on to have children of her own. One of her children, Ariana Jean Wolk, 40, was the victim of a brutal stabbing in July of 2020 in Denver, Colorado. The police quickly arrested a suspect. While the case was solved fairly quickly, it didn’t get mainstream attention until The Daily Mail picked the story up this month.
The outlet reports that Wolk died after suffering “multiple [stab wounds] in the neck.” Four days later, the police had 24-year-old Jose Sandoval-Romero in custody. The Daily Mail reports that Sandoval-Romero gave a confession to the murder, but not a motive.

Tate-LaBianca Murders Rattle Country in 1969
The book Helter Skelter, the definitive book on the Tate-LaBianca murders, opens by describing the quiet, sultry summer night in 1969. It was August 9, 1969, when aspiring actress Sharon Tate was brutally murdered by Charles Manson’s followers. Along with Tate and her unborn baby, Abigail Folger, Wojciech Frykowsk, Jay Sebring; and Steven Parent, also lost their lives that night.
At the time, the police had no idea that Manson’s cult members were responsible for the murder. In fact, Manson sent more followers out the next night to commit more murders. On August 10, 1969, Rosemary and Leno LaBianco were stabbed to death in their own home. It wasn’t until December that Manson and the killers were indicted for the murders.
While Charles Manson wasn’t holding the knife, the courts still found him guilty of seven counts of first-degree murder. He died in prison in 2017.
Despite the death of the cult’s ringleader, the Manson Family murders continues to garner interest and notoriety.
