Did Taylor Swift Shade Scooter Braun In Ryan Reynolds’ Ad?

Chanel Adams

Taylor Swift fans are still talking about Ryan Reynolds’ ad. They think she took a dig at Scooter Braun in the Match.com commercial. As fans know, Taylor is currently in a feud with the music manager. They feel that she had something to do with the commercial.

But Taylor claims she was simply in shock. On Wednesday, December 2, she took to Twitter to explain that her friend Ryan Reynolds “asked me if he could use a snippet of one [of her old songs] for a LOLsome commercial he wrote.” Taylor hinted that Ryan was the one who wrote the clever ad. But that hasn’t stopped fans from thinking she threw in an Easter egg.

Did Taylor Swift drop an Easter egg in Ryan Reynolds’ Match ad?

Fans are convinced she threw shade at Scooter Braun in the new ad. Ryan Reynolds teased the new ad via Twitter on December 2. He wrote: “A match made in hell is still a @match.” The clip showed Satan falling in love with the year 2020. Taylor Swift provided the music to the commercial with her re-recorded version of her 2008 hit “Love Story.”

However, some fans noticed a possible diss toward Scooter Braun. The two have gone back-and-forth regarding the possession of the singer’s masters from her old record label, Big Machine Records. Toward the end of the clip, Satan and his partner pose for a selfie in front of a dumpster fire. In the background, a fallen scooter lays next to the blue garbage can. Some fans think the “Cardigan” singer wanted to take a dig at Scooter.

“The fallen scooter. I love Taylor Swift omg,” one fan wrote alongside the screenshot.

All about her feud with Scooter Braun

In June 2019, Taylor Swift slammed both Scooter Braun and Big Machine CEO Scott Borchetta in a lengthy social media message. The “Shake It Off” singer was on the record label throughout most of her career before joining Universal Music Group in 2018. However, Scooter acquired Taylor’s back catalog of music as part of a $330 million dollar deal after he took over Big Machine.

In her 2019 emotional letter, Taylor claims she “learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world.” She also accused him of “incessant, manipulative bullying” throughout the years. But the “Bad Blood” singer didn’t stop there. She also called out his clients Kanye West and Justin Bieber. Her former label followed up with a statement of their own in November 2019, claiming she was “calculated” in her public appeals.

Their feud continues to make headlines

On November 16, Taylor Swift gave her fans an update on her current attempt “to enter into negotiations with Scooter Braun” about her master recordings. In her lengthy message, she revealed that Scooter “wanted me to sign an ironclad NDA stating I would never say another word” about him “unless it was positive.”

“So, I would have to sign a document that would silence me before I could even have a chance to bid on my own work,” she added.

The NDA made it difficult for the Cats star to acquire her masters back from Scooter and Big Machine records. So, Taylor decided to re-record her old music. She’s currently in the process and teased that more will come soon. The singer is not letting any of these setbacks bother her.
