New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is empathizing with Donald Trump. He understands what the President goes through when it comes to the “unprofessional” and “really biased” media. He recently spoke out about the treatment of politicians from within the media. This comes after Cuomo called out Trump for bullying people.
Cuomo’s support for Trump comes after he had an exchange with Wall Street Journal reporter Jimmy Vielkind at his own press conference. While Cuomo and Trump can’t see eye-to-eye on limitations for religious services, they’re both fed up with the media. On Monday, November 23, the New Yorker sat down for an interview with Albany-based WAMC.
Andrew Cuomo defends Donald Trump
During his interview with WAMC’s Alan Chartock, Andrew Cuomo called out the “unprofessional” and “really biased” media. He claims that reporters have a “nastier tone” and “disrespect that never existed” before when it comes to politicians. Cuomo took it one step further and defended Trump. He understands how the 45th President feels when it comes to talking to the media.
“The way they question President Trump at some of these press conferences is just – I’ve never heard that tone with the president,” Cuomo said, as per the National Review. “There are reporters who just are unprofessional, don’t know the facts and ask really biased questions….You want to say ‘well I don’t like the president and I disrespect him,’ I know but it’s still the office of the president.”
Ever since his first day in office, the relationship between Trump and the media has been a constant conversation. Reporters and the president especially feuded since the 2016 presidential campaign. Trump infamously labeled most major media outlets, except for Fox News, as “fake news.” As for Cuomo, he held daily press briefings about the pandemic ever since March.
He was slammed for the way he handled the coronavirus pandemic. Cuomo lashed out at Jimmy Vielkind during a recent press conference. The journalist asked him whether New York City schools had to shut down. Cuomo didn’t like the question and yelled at him for being “confused” about the issue.
Trump lashed out at journalist on Thanksgiving
Andrew Cuomo isn’t alone. President Trump lashed out at a reporter on Thursday, November 26. He spent most of his Thanksgiving talking about the 2020 election results. During a press conference, Trump called the journalist a “lightweight” after he asked about conceding his defeat.
Reuters White House correspondent Jeff Mason kept asking Trump if he plans to concede to President-elect Joe Biden if the Electoral College votes in favor of Biden. Trump got so annoyed that he decided to answer the reporter’s question. He sharply responded: “Don’t talk to me that way.”
The journalist tried to interrupt and apologize, but Trump wasn’t having it. He added: “I’m the president of the United States. Don’t ever talk to the president that way.” When he finally answered Mason’s question, he offered a lengthy response. Trump still supports his claims of election fraud and compared it to ones that take place in third-world countries.
