It’s no secret that ABC’s Dancing With The Stars is always looking for controversial cast members to join each season. One year it was Carole Baskin. In 2021, it was Olivia Jade. ABC hasn’t yet renewed the show for Season 31, but rumor has it that some want royal family member Sarah Ferguson to join the cast.
Sarah Ferguson hasn’t entertained offers to compete in the past
Sarah Ferguson has been pretty active in charity work since her divorce from Prince Andrew in 1996. However, it’s her connection to the prince that has people talking.
According to The Sun, the British version of DWTS reached out to her numerous times. But each time, she turned down the offers to be on Strictly Come Dancing. Some believe that she wouldn’t accept an offer to be on the American show if she wouldn’t appear on the British show.
But now that Prince Andrew’s name is back in the news, some believe that Sarah Ferguson may rethink the offers.
In case you hadn’t heard, Prince Andrew has ties to the infamous Jeffrey Epstein.
As per The Sun, “Prince Andrew demanded a jury trial and denied allegations in the ongoing case with Virginia Guiffre, who accuses him of sexually assaulting her when she was 17.”
Virginia Guiffre is an alleged victim of Epstein’s and claims Prince Andrew assaulted her when he came to visit Epstein’s estate. A trial for Prince Andrew is expected to take place towards the end of 2022.
So why exactly does Dancing With The Stars want the Duchess of York?
DWTS does love contestants that make headlines, but Sarah Ferguson isn’t your typical celebrity contestant.
A source allegedly told The Sun,
“Of course, Sarah would be of great interest given everything that is going on with Prince Andrew. ABC will do their best to protect her from getting media questions on that matter. Their skilled media and production team have famously protected famous contestants, including Olivia Jade, from having family scandals dragged up. But look, the fact that Andrew is in the news would make it fascinating for viewers with all the issues going on legally.”
It’s not the first time that Dancing With The Stars had a political figure on the show. However, it would mark the first time a member of the British royal family joined the competition. That would definitely be something different.
