IMPACT Wrestling Sacrifice 2021: Rating and Ranking Every Match

Robby Steven

IMPACT Wrestling delivered their Sacrifice special on IMPACT Plus on Saturday Night. Every title is on the line with the main event being the most important match of the night. Rich Swann and Moose will do battle in a unification match to crown the first Unified IMPACT Wrestling Heavyweight Champion.

Each match at IMPACT Wrestling will be given a brief review and analysis. Then each match will be given a rating and be ranked from worst to best.

Matches Ranked from Worst to Best

9) Knockouts Title Match: Deonna Purrazzo d. ODB
ODB was quick to use her strength and experience to her advantage as Deonna Purrazzo heads outside to clear her head. Outside the ring, ODB is attacked by Susan and Kimber Lee who are quickly ejected from ringside. Purrazzo is able to maintain the advantage before ODB makes a brief comeback. ODB hesitates with a second rope attack as Purrazzo is able to apply the Venus de Milo (Double arm Fujiwara armbar) that forces ODB to submit.

Match Analysis: This felt more like a filler match on TV as opposed to a title match on a major monthly card. Take a Pass. *1/2

IMPACT Wrestling: Mixed Tag Team Action

8) Tenille Dashwood and Kaleb With a K d. Havok & Nevaeh
Tenille Dashwood and Neveah start off with some chain wrestling before Kaleb with a K gets the tag in. Kaleb gets a brief offense in before he ends up on the receiving end of a beat down from both Havok and Nevaeh. Dashwood and Kaleb regain the offense as they take pictures with their cellphone. Back inside and Nevaeh gets the hot tag as she hits a Samoan drop on Kaleb and an avalanche in the corner on Dashwood. Nevaeh rolls up Dashwood but Kaleb distracts the ref and assists in a reverse for the win.

Match Analysis: This was decent enough but nothing to go out o your way to see. An acceptable lower-mid card feud. Skim It. **

IMPACT Wrestling: Knockouts Tag Action

7) Knockouts Tag Team Title Match: Fire ‘N Flava (Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz) d. Jazz and Jordynne Grace
Jordynne Grace and Kiera Hogan start things off but it doesn’t go well for the current tag team champions. Grace’s power is clearly an advantage as Hogan is forced outside where she barely makes the 10-count. Back inside and Hogan connects with a Code Breaker as the tag champs exchange tags and work over Grace. Jazz gets the hot tag and connects with a series of right hands before falling victim to the champions. The champs take a beating but eventually get the win after Steelz hits a crucifix bomb and Hogan lands a fisherman neckbreaker for three count.

Match Analysis: Solid tag match as Fire ‘N Flavor pick up steam. Working against two vets is the right move. Skim It. **1/2

IMPACT Wrestling: Decay makes its mark

6) Decay (Crazzy Steve & Black Taurus) d. Reno Scum (Adam Thornstowe and Luster the Legend)
Reno Scum hasn’t been featured on IMPACT Wrestling but not the same can be said about the rebooted Decay. Scum get the early advantage but Decay is able to quickly bounce back. Crazzy Steve attempts a slingshot plancha but is caught on the outside by Lester. Rosemary heads to the apron and spits the green mist into the eyes of Lester. Back inside, Steve nails a cannonball onto Lester before Black Taurus finishes it off with the Taurus Driver.

Match Analysis: Solid match to kick off IMPACT Wrestling Sacrifice “2021” though nothing too spectacular. Anytime we see green mist is a plus. Skim It. **1/2

Violent by Design expands

5) Violent by Design (Deaner and Joe Doering) d. James Storm & Chris Sabin
Chris Sabin gets the earlier advantage on Joe Doering before tagging in James Storm. Doering uses his power to knock both men down with a double closeline. Deaner enters but is quickly on the receiving end of a belly-to-belly suplex by Storm before Sabin comes back to control the offense. VBD gets back to business working over Storm before Sabin gets the hot tag. Suplex-top rope elbow combo by Storm and Sabin gets a two-count on Deaner. The referee is knocked down as Rhino comes to the ring but spears Sabin allowing Deaner to get the pin. After the match, Rhino officially joins VBD.

Match Analysis: Solid tag match as Violent by Design continues to add to their ranks. Skim it. **3/4

Hardcore revenge

4) Hold Harmless (NO DQ) Match: Eddie Edwards d. Brian Myers
Eddie Edwards quickly gets the advantage working over Brian Meyers in the corner before hitting an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. The action quickly moves to the outside to take advantage of the match stipulation. Meyers moves back inside but is closelines over the top rope and hit with a suicide dive by Edwards. Meyers uses the steel steps to turn the tide as he works over Edwards on the outside. The action moves back inside as Meyers uses a garbage can lid before getting a two-count off a Michinoku Driver.

Brian Meyers gets caught up top as Eddie Edwards hits a superplex. Matt Cordona and Hernandez appear but end up brawling with each other. With Meyers back on the top rope, Edwards locks in the backpack stunner through a table. The match heads back inside as Edwards grabs a foreign object brought in by Meyers as he loads his knee pad and hits Boston Knee Party for the win.

Match Analysis: Fun hardcore match between both men to possibly end the feud. Eddie Edwards is too good to be wasted in mid-card matches though. Hopefully, Eddie drops the street gear and goes back to NOAH Edwards. Worth a Watch. ***1/4

New Japan makes history

3) Tag Team Title Match: FinJuice (David Finlay and Juice Robinson) d. The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows) (New Champions)
Karl Anderson and David Finlay kick things off before Juice Robinson and Luke Gallows get the tags in. Gallows’ power is on display as he gets a two-count off a lariat. FinJuice gets a brief advantage before Finley is knocked off the apron in a brutal spot allowing Gallows to connect with multiple elbows. Robinson finally gets a hot tag and cleans house before missing a cannonball allowing Gallows to get a two-count. Backdrop/neckbreaker combo by The Good Brothers gets another close count. Finley gets the tag in as FinJuice hits the Demolition Decapitation before Gallows is knocked out of the ring. Doomsday Device by Finjuice puts away Anderson for the win and the titles.

Match Analysis: Suiprining win as FinJuice from New Japan win the IMPACT Wrestling Champions. Good match for sure and one that is Worth the Watch. ***1/2

X-Divison Title on the line

2) X-Divison Title Match: Ace Austin d. TJP (New Champion)
Ace Austin works over TJP on the mat before the action heads outside. Austin wipes out TJP with a Fosbury Flop before bringing the match back inside. Slingshot spin kick by Austin gets a two-count. TJP finally gets the advantage after a slingshot DDT. Big boot by TJP followed by a tornado DDT for another close count. Austin fights back and gets a two-count of his own after a top rope fameasser. TJP locks in a kneebar but Austin is able to get to the ropes. TJP goes for the Mamba Splash but Austin uses the referee as a distraction. Austin is able to connect with The Fold for the win and securing his second X-Divison championship.

Match Analysis: Good X-Divison match that was expected from TJP and Ace Austin. The title needed a change of pace and Austin is one of the better options to put the title on. Worth a Watch. ***1/2

IMPACT Wrestling: Main Event

1) IMPACT Wrestling/TNA Title Unification Match: Rich Swann d. Moose
This unification match is the biggest match in IMPACT Wrestling over the last year. The winner goes to the main event of the next PPV Rebellion in a title vs title match against AEW World Champion Kenny Omega. Moose runs into knees from Rich Swann but it doesn’t affect the big man. The match goes to the outside of the ring where Swann is able to ram Moose into the ring post on three different occasions. With the match back inside, Moose capitalizes with a stun gun to gain the advantage. Moose uses his power through the match, including hitting a 360 backdrop. Uranage by Moose gets a two-count as he soon brings Swann to the outside.

Moose beats Rich Swann by the guard rail before heading back inside. Up to the top rope as Swann is able to power his way to a hurricanrana. In a spectacular spot, Moose attempts a high cross body but is caught with a springboard cutter. Swann moves up top and nails a 450 splash for another two-count. Swann goes up top again but gets caught in a super fallaway slam. Moose is caught in a crucifix that allows Swann to modify the roll-up for the win.

Match Analysis: Great main event between two of the best in IMPACT Wrestling. I thought they’d go with Moose to match up with Omega but Rich Swann has worked hard and deserves it just the same. Must-Watch. ****
