The world is definitely different this year. And, kids have been affected even more than most adults. Now, Christmas is coming and many kids are worried about Santa Claus being able to make his rounds this year. But, there is good news for everyone! Jolly Old St. Nick will still be coming and he will be Covid free!

Dr. Anthony Fauci says Santa Claus will still be coming

People shared the news that Dr. Fauci says Santa will not get Covid-19. Santa is basically immune from contracting the deadly virus. And yes according to the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases he will still still be making his journey around the globe this Christmas.

Dr. Fauci said, “Santa is exempt from this because Santa, of all the good qualities, has a lot of good innate immunity.” He continued, “Santa is not going to be spreading any infections to anybody.”

But, just so everyone feels safe, many malls and stores are offering virtual visits with Santa. This way children can share their desires with the big man in the red suit, but also stay safe. Other locations are offering socially distanced visits with Santa by appointment only.

This will be the first time since 1861 that Macy’s has not had an in store Santa for children to visit.

Recommendations for celebrating holidays

Santa may be immune from the virus, but most are not. So, the CDC is recommending everyone do their part to keep the virus from spreading further. It has been suggested families only celebrate the holidays with people within their own households. If they go outside their bubble they run the risk of spreading or contracting Covid-19.

Other suggestions are to not travel great distances. And, if some are going to celebrate together they should attempt to have their dinner outdoors.

And, of course if anyone has been exposed to the illness they should stay home and avoid other healthy people.

While things seem different there are still many ways to keep in touch with loved ones throughout the holidays. Thanks to technology video calls are an everyday occurrence and can be helpful in keeping families close.

Those who do travel should use caution and good hygiene to help slow the spread of the virus.

While 2020 seems to be offering continuous change and hardships, at least Santa Claus will still be magically flying the skies on Christmas Eve. Children will have something to look forward to as Christmas approaches.
