Some do not have storm shelters or evacuation centers, so it can be terrifying. The first place to be considered is the basement or an underground locale. If the tornado hits when you are at home, head to a spot with no windows. Oftentimes, this can be a bathroom or a small, private area in the home. Closets can also offer safety, so a walk-in can accommodate more than one person. The key, as aforementioned, is to steer clear of windows. If that is not an option, move to the center of the room or hide. Hide under a desk or a table that has weight behind it, and just hold on. Furthermore, grab a blanket to cover yourself for added protection.
What happens if you are at school or work and need to find a safe spot? Do not go to the gym or auditorium, it seems the smaller the better in incidents like this.
