My 600-lb Life alum Ashley Bratcher appeared in Season 4 at 725 pounds, making her one of the heaviest patients at the time. Her weight caused many problems in her life, especially when it came to her movements. She usually spends the day just waiting for her food, which puts her life in danger. But the Texas native decided to turn her life around before it was too late. Keep reading to see her big achievements since the show.
My 600-lb Life: Ashley Bratcher’s Weight Loss Journey
Ashley had an incredible journey with Dr. Now. She underwent gastric bypass surgery after losing enough weight. After that, she followed the surgeon’s orders regarding her diet and physical lifestyle. By the end of her episode, she had dropped 255 pounds. However, her journey wasn’t as smooth as it seemed. According to reports, the My 600-lb Life alum spent a few weeks at the hospital after having her ulcer removed. It was also revealed that she had one of her gallbladders taken out.
Dr. Now has warned his patients throughout the years that trading overeating for undereating could be very dangerous. Unfortunately, Ashley experienced the side effects of her intense diet. But despite the rough experience, the former TLC star stood up again and continued to work hard on her physical goals.
Ashley’s Horrible Past
Ashely suffered the same traumatic childhood as the other patients of Dr. Now, which ultimately led to her food addiction. During the show, it was revealed that her mother became a drug addict when she was six. She was also abandoned by her mom and her siblings. The My 600-lb Life alum also suffered abuse by her babysitter’s husband.
Fortunately, Ashely Bratcher’s father was able to save her from the nightmares. He gained custody of his daughter, and they eventually moved away. But the traumatic experience left a big mark on the girl’s mental and physical health. There are also reports that she weighed over 400 pounds after graduating from high school.
My 600-lb Life: Ashley Bratcher’s Dreams Came True
Ashley admitted during the show that she relied completely on her 5-year-old son before entering a weight loss program. The only thing she could do back then was take a bath. Due to this, the My 600-lb Life alum dreamed of losing enough pounds so her son could catch a break.
At this point, Ashley Bratcher has been living happily with her family without any assistance. Her recent FB photos also show that she has kept a healthy weight throughout the years.
